As many know the kids club season is getting ready to start. We encourage our High School wrestlers to remain their contacts with their kids clubs to inspire, lead, and motivate. It is where you started you need to keep your loyalties. I have heard of some Wizzers/parents/wrestlers recruiting for the Wizzers as opposed to kids, this is not acceptable and individuals seeing this now know it. My expectation is involvement with the kids programs they have started, for HS Wrestlers the Wizzers are strictly HS with specific expectations for HS level wrestlers. As a part of the Wizzers Mission Statement is support and continued involvement with the Kids Programs.

That said, we are continuing our practices and working around the Derby Club Kids Practices. Derby High School is kind enough to let us use their room, we want to respect their high school and middle school feeder program. As a result, we will be having our regular practices at Derby for Middle School/Junior High Kids and High School Wrestlers on Mondays and Wednesdays. Practice times will be changing on those two days though. We will practice from 5:30-7:00. Derby Kids Club will have practice from 7:00-8:30 at the same facility. For the Wizzers who can and desire, they can practice with the Derby Club from 7:00-8:30. Those wrestlers will need to pay a Derby Team fee and have their USA Cards. I personally plan on doing this because of our respect and loyalty to this club. I will be in the room to assist with those HS wrestlers. I can't tell you of the respect I have for Jeff Herrington and the rest of the coaching staff who will be helping during these times and running the additional practice. I have never regretted as a parent Jeff or any of the other coaches coaching my son, and I know they know their stuff.

Regarding the upcoming Wizzers Schedule

This weekend, 10/28 we will have several wrestlers at The Super 32 in Greensboro NC. We look forward to being there with other members of the Kansas Wrestling Family.

11/4 Emporia Takedown Tournament
11/10 Catoosa OK
11/11 Broken Arrow OK

Note on the above 2 tournaments, I had several wrestlers from out of town contact me about wrestling with the Wizzers during these two Oklahoma tournaments. Of course wrestlers across the state are welcome and if you are interested I would encourage you to contact me regarding paperwork I can send via email. We are doing things a little differently this year so we can establish appropriate priorities and so forth. One of the benefits this year is individual scholarships available prior to summer wrestling for Duals and Fargo, and prior to the fall season 07.

Hope this helps. A great tournament and for those not turning 16 prior to September 1, they can wrestle both divisions. It does not say it on the flyer, but in the past, they run a Jr High Division 9th graders can qualify for this tournament and the HS division if they fit the age requirement. They can also do that for the Catoosa tournament. It is how some of the wrestlers got in as many as 27 matches in less than 24 hours last year. Everyone got in at least 11-20 several as many as 25-27
