I missed the exhibition tag team match at the Derby Novice Tournament today for Tyler featuring some of the states best high school wrestlers. Any thoughts and reflections on the match for those that saw it?

Personally I think it was great!! The kids that were watching matside were loving it and it was not only exciting to watch but was also entertaining. All 6 wrestlers had great spirits and that showed through their sportsmanship which directly impacted the kids. Not only did the kids witness great sportsmanship but they also saw how all of their moves worked even with the bigger kids/state champions ...takedowns/counters/whatever, and they also saw some moves they probably had never seen or been taught before.
I asked my son what he thought about it just now and he said, "I thought it was really cool!" and i have to wholeheartedly agree.
"Everything we do should be for the future of our children."

Mike. You missed a one of the most enjoyable matches that I have seen in a long time. The guys were out there having a great time competing in the sport that they all obviously love with no pressure to "win". The creative tags like the body chain tags were fun to see and the kids that were there to wrestle today seemed to enjoy it as much as the high school wrestlers did. It was a great opportunity to see some of Kansas' best go out and have a good time and I'd like to thank them for taking the time to put on the exhibition. Hopefully, we'll get a return of tag team wrestling next year at the Novice Championships.

This is great to hear. I can't tell you how great all of these guys have been in helping Tyler Graebner out and keeping the eyes of the wrestling community on Tyler's needs. It is great to hear that Joe Cornejo has stepped up and helped even more than in the past.
One of the surprising things is how much the high school kids have loved the format, even wanting to do a tournament. They have even mentioned that they would love to do a exhibition match at State and at the Senior Classic the night before State. Of course, we need the people on a state level to be willing to do this.
I know from past experience the format really adds to the excitement of the event, and you can even observe the strategy involved. It can also be fun and easy to watch. Specifics of the match would also be good to hear about from people who were there.

yea it was a blast and i won again. cornejo anderson and I were on a team and we did suprisingly well even with having to teach them how to do the tags and teach strategy.
Everyone needs an inspiration like Tyler. He fought harder than anyone ever has on a wrestling mat and it was for his life.

I spoke with Christina, Tyler's mom, last night and she asked me to make a post that we need to keep Tyler in our prayers and thoughts. He has had to go back into the hospital as the doctors need to remove fluid from his lungs. The process of how they do that can be difficult and while the family was looking forward to some time away from the hospital, they have to deal with this setback. Again, keep Tyler and his family in your prayers.
