I've avoided putting any advertising on the Kansas Wrestling website because I didn't want to see it become cluttered or distracting. However, every year I get emails and calls from people wanting to know where to look for wrestling merchandise. I decided that the creation of an affiliate page would allow me to minimize the impact on the regular website pages while providing an easily accessible page to look for wrestling gear & apparel.
The beauty of the affiliate pages is that it doesn't cost our coaches, wrestlers and fans anything. As they make the purchases that they would have made anyway, they are also benefiting Kansas wrestling (all revenues will go directly to USAW-Kansas). In the case of Ken Chertow's WearandGear.com, if you click on the banner on the affiliate page then place an order, we receive 10% on whatever you purchase on that visit. It is important that you go though the link on the affiliate page; if you go directly to WearandGear.com and make a purchase, it will not save you anything but will cost USAW-Kansas the potential 10% rebate.
I am going to restrict the merchants on the affiliate page to those who provide good products at a fair price. I have already contacted Blue Chip Athletic and Sunflower Wrestling Gear, and they are both working on putting together a program that can be offered on the affiliate page as well.
