I've been keeping my ears open and trying to see some matches at the jr high level (since high school's still got a week before it starts) and am extremely impressed with the girls this year. Morgan Ottesen is still kicking butt and taking names and there are a few new faces in Lawrence at the jr. high level. Payton Covert is showing leaps and bounds of improvement from last season and Mallory Cox is a new face at Central JH in Lawrence. I am quite pleased with everyone's determination and willingness to compete with the boys. I can't even begin to express how proud I am of each of them, no matter what level they are, for going out there are giving it their all. I can't wait to see where they'll be once they hit high school. Good luck to everyone this season.

Breanna Maples from Neodesha broke her ankle in practice and is out for the season. Her mom wasn't going to let her wrestle high school and now this will probably do her in for sure. We have one other girl wrestler and she seems to be enjoying it. Jancey is getting geared up for the season. How about those hydration rules?? Jancey passed the first time but Riley didn't take it seriously enough and had to retake it.

Hey everyone,
Has anybody else started their season yet? I wrestled at an open in Blackwell OK. yesterday and placed 2nd at 12u 92lb and 3rd at 15u 94lb.
I am wrestling up a couple weight classes at the opens, I have dropped about 6lbs since last year and will be at 86lb for my middle school. Our first dual is Dec. 5th.
I cant wait to go to some Kansas tournaments and see some of you.
Talk to you later.

We have just got high school wrestling this year and right now have two to maybe five girls that are interested in wrestling. The first practice is tonight, I hope that they stay out and try their best. I have a daughter that has been wrestling for 3 years now and she loves it. She is 8 and weights 50 lbs. She is even encouraging the girls at the high school. Our high school is looking for dauls so they can get some practice. Most of the guys have never wrestled before. Good luck to all you girl wrestlers this year. I'll watch to see how you all do!

The second would be http://www.kansaskrusaders.com/index.html

You can also check out the USGWA girls tournaments (www.usgwa.com). Kent Bailo sponsors several girls tournaments in the area, as well as a girls national tournament in the spring (I believe in Michigan). These are girls only matches and generally are scheduled in the spring. Also take advantage of the club season. Every match is a learning experience, whether it be against boys or girls, so get her signed up with a local club in the spring. If you're worried about her wrestling boys though, there are some clubs that are girls only (Kansas Krusaders) or offer a girls division (Lawrence Coyotes). Good luck!

Hannah Martin placed 4th at the Tulsa Union tournament!! Yeah for Hannah!!! I know that some teams from Kansas only sent their best wrestlers to that one and the others went to the JV tourney at Coffeyville. She is too cool. Congrats

Saw in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper Hannah placed fourth in the Geary tournament this last weekend, to become the first girl to place there in 63 years. She's also ranked #1 4a 103lbs by okwrestle.com. She's an animal.
