Looks like they're rescheduling for Saturday (only) Feb 10th - Per the AD's assistant @ 9:45 this morning.
The first impression will be a lasting impression

Just got the call from the Halstead AD and they are moving the tournament to Monday 1/22 & Tuesday 1/23. Looking at wrestling starting at 3 on each day (not definate at this call-10:55am).
Please, don't ask me any more than that, as have no more info than this. Either contact your school's coach or the Halstead AD himself for further details...
I know this as I'm contracted to ref this tourney, so this is 100% fact!

UPDATE per phone call with Halstead AD @ 11:30 am:
Seeding meeting will take place at 1pm on Monday 1/22 and wrestling will start at 3. First three rounds will be contested on Monday.
Wrestling will either start at 3 or 4 on Tuesday 1/23. Probably won't know until Monday.
Once again, please don't ask me any more than that, as have no more info than this. Either contact your school's coach or the Halstead AD himself for further details...

Wow, that is a lot of school for the kids to miss. I hope my administration will go for it.

Shane's information is correct once again. Flinthills will be there.

NO snow or ice accumulation in the Butler, Harvey and Sedgwick County areas and the tournament is canceled.
Not a good decision!
How will weigh in work?
We will weigh in Monday with NO allowance from the weekend tournament and again Monday night for the Tuesday session, and weigh in again Thursday for the dual with NO allowance.
Not a good decision? A coach needs to schedule tournaments where they expect to wrestle - not look for excuses to cancel.

Shane's information is correct once again. Flinthills will be there. Geeze Coach Turner: Shane and "correct once again" is a long stretch. More like a little schmooze for the referee? Will Flinthills and Koranda once again be together at the Bluestem tournament?

2Slick4You:
It's a crap shoot/catch-22/damned if you do, damned if you don't situation!!! It's Kansas and it's winter. I'm sure many people can search memories of little predicitons with huge amounts and huge predicitons with nothing to show. I've only got wonder how many people would be on here questionsing the thinking of the Halstead AD if he would have had it and then 2-3 schools get in wrecks, kids get injured or worse!!! They made a call and they can't do anything but what they think is best. If that throws off your schedule then...
(Deep breathe)
I'm sorry to inform you, but I will not be at Bluestem's JV Tourney. Making my way up to Council Grove for their Team Duels. You all have fun and do three things for me: take it easy on the newbies, enjoy the food and miss me a lot ;-)

I understand the "catch 22" but i think for wrestling is the true inability to reschedule tournaments host school should try to run tournament is leave it up to traveling schools if they want to travel in the weather

What would they do when only a few schools show up. How are they going to pay for all the medals and other stuff. Alot of the schools use the money from the tournament to pay for it. It would be kinda useless. I say rescheduling is the best idea because its better than risking everybodys lives. I was out on the highways at 5 in the morning. I live 30 minutes outside newton and the highways were really slick. You would rather risk the lives of highschool wrestlers than reschedule. What kind of a person are u
