LHS wins wrestling regional, Free State sends six to state

Leavenworth - Lawrence High won its second consecutive regional championship Saturday and qualified 10 wrestlers for state, and Free State placed fifth and qualified six wrestlers for state.
The Lions' Brandon Goodwin (103 pounds), Brian Cain (145) and Jake Lorenzo (285) and the Firebirds’ Koty Russell (112) and Mark Sommers (140) won regional championships. Also qualifying for state for Lawrence High were Chris Lane (112), Chris Coons (125), Blake Greenfield (130), Jake Pfannenstiel (135), Zach Hertzel (140), Cody Weber (160) and Kyle McTaggart (215).
Alex Hardman (125), Kenny Flanders (130), Jack Caywood (135) and Josh Fowler (152) also made state for Free State.
