It wasn't in the finals, but one of the best matches at 321A was Jamis from Beloit over Blevins from Central Heights in 3 OT. Both never gave up and wrestled until the end.

fatoldman,

Are you serious?????? If you thought that was one of the best matches then you were not there very long and did not see very many matches...................that was not a very impressive wrestling match at all!

I guess I have a different opinion. Not all good matches are between the best wrestlers in the state. I saw a lot of very impressive matches this weekend (yes, I was there for the entire tourament). As expected, Hase and Rogers, Esterl and York, Gienger and Meyer, Corwin and Patterson (along with a bunch of others) were all were very exciting matches to watch. But, I enjoy watching kids that have a lot of heart compteting at a level that is not expected of them. This just happened to be one of those matches.

I am with you in that the best matches don't have to be between the best or the finalists. A few years ago I saw a Kansas native in Keiswetter battle it out with a kid from Indianapolis (if I recall correctly) at DII nationals in a high scoring affair that went to overtime and saw Keis hit 3 or 4 twisters and the other guy fight back tooth and nail only to lose via pinfall in ot.

5A - Jordan Miller from Ottawa (a 4th @ Regionals) knocking off 2 #1's on the way to the finals, and doing well against Bahe (undefeated).

The Brown-Cody finals match at 160. Cody almost got the go-ahead takedown at the buzzer. In OT, Cody shot in and Brown flipped him over for 2 and BP.

Two other matches I though were good were the Caldwell and Tannenbaugh and the Woods and Stokes Match.

The Caldwell and Tannenbaum match was kinda boring to me actually...Tannebaum came out on fire for like the first 30 seconds...then after that it just seemed like he backed up the whole time, which made for a very slow and boring match...which I don't know if thats a bad strategy or not..keep it close till the 3rd then make your attack?? but even then it didn't seem to have much of an attack... but congrats to both..though I think they could have shown a lil more fire

Thanks to those who wrestled and a special heart felt thanks to those who have sign up with the armed services. Those individuals deserve there own post.

The Grantz and Samuelson match in 3a was a good one TRIPLE OT. Even though it was on the back side of the bracket. Great all around matches at the 3a tournament.

i have to say the 4A 189LB championship. Smokey Valleys 1st finalist ever sent it into overtime but lost on a locked hands call. i think thats a horrible way to end a match but you cant change it. anyway it was one to remember

TongieHWT,
I am going to pipe in on this one. First off i will say that Baker is one of the most respectful and gracious loser/winner that i saw in regional or state (4A)action that i saw. From the start, the take down given to Baker in the 2nd was a very poor call. i was mat-side and it was even a questionable call at the college level. The locked hands were signaled with :22 sec left. no point was awarded until :03 left. The official let them wrestle due to Heckle getting his escape with :06 left. The official didn't stop the match until the escape was made. He could have given the locked hands point or the escape. No locked hands the outcome would have been the same. Before time ran out the side official signaled softly that an escape had been made.

Thank You,
Jason Wood
