There is a National kids tourney being held in Kansas City on the weekend of April 6th and 7th. It sound great! It has been for high schoolers in the past and this year they have opened it up to gradeschoolers. You should check it out!!

I hear Akin is going to get a team to go to Brut this year.

does anyone know of any 8th graders and 3rd graders who will be attending this event??

What weights.I hope none of the kids got held back since they go by grade.

I took a look at the entry forms (which are way to complicated in my opinion) and the 1st-2nd graders have 10 weight classes starting at 37 lbs and on up to 76 lbs. No heavyweights apparently. 3rd graders and up not to bad all the regular weights plus some even heavier classes. Hope this helps..

We went to a girls nationals in Minnisota 4 years ago. They went by grade. My 11 year old 6th grader wrestled a 14 year old 6th grader who was home schooled.

Brute Adidas Nationals is a nationally held event where wrestlers compete for the national folk-style championship in their respective school grade. The event has age groups for 1st through 11th grades.

I will be coaching a team competing as Akin Mat Army along with a coaching staff built out of top area coaches. I am also inviting any coaches who would like to join my staff and help coach.

Team members - Any wrestlers are welcome to compete for my Mat Army for free (team gear is $35). All you need to do is simply email me that you are joining my Mat Army at eakin@kc.rr.com and register for the tournament at bruteadidasnationals.com on your own.

Tournament registration - All wrestlers and parents are responsible for getting themselves registered for the competition and paying their tournament entry fee. This can done at bruteadidasnationals.com. Don’t forget to enter your team name as Akin Mat Army.

Team Gear (optional) - Wrestlers who want Akin Mat Army camo shirt and hat need to let me know shirt size and pay $35 by March 26th. Check or cash made payable to Eric Akin.

Free 3 week training program (optional) I will be offering training for this and other upcoming events.
*USA Wrestling card required
Location: St. James Academy - One mile west of K-7 and W. 95th street.
Times: 5pm - 6:30pm (until 7pm on Tuesdays)
Dates: March 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 19th, 20th.

Would there be a weight class for a 1st grader/6yr at a weight around 83-86 lb. ?

Based on what I saw on the website your wrestler would be too heavy. 76lbs was the the top weight class in the 1st-2nd grade group. Good luck
