I saw this on another post but can't find it now. Do they wrestle through the semis on the front side as well as the first round on the backside, on Saturday?

Just so I am clear... we've only been once. So if my son makes it to the finals or falls into the loser bracket at some level past the first round, we can go back to the hotel and relax, knowing with 100% certainty that we are done for the first day?

For example, win first, lose second. Go to a movie?

I'd love to be able to leave Sat and not sit through unnecessary matches, but dont want to wake up from a nice Sat afternoon nap in a cold sweat that we missed an afternoon match.

If you lose your first match - I believe you'll have one round of wrestle backs also on day one. In theory their should be 12 kids left of a full 16 person bracket on day 2. Hopefully, Ned will chime in on this one.

Well said.

In reality I'll insanely be there with pen, note pad, 5 extra video tapes, and a tape recorder to record matches and get down my thoughts on all the competition.

But for the sake of my three other kids, including the 3 year old, some hotel time might be nice.

When do you think the semi will start on Saturday?

Talkwrestle,
Be careful about video tapeing other kids. You may have been kidding but it is not allowed. You can't tape another wrestler. I have been to 2 tournaments that an official/director has come up into the stands and confiscated the video tape. One even had matches of their own kid and it wasn't returned. The parent was just told "sorry, these are the rules"! Does anyone know the exact rule on this? Be careful. And good luck to all. Have a safe trip to and from Topeka.

What if you're recording matches for someone else's kids? We haven't ever had anyone ask what we're doing recording kids other than our own, but I have recorded matches for people who couldn't make it to the tournament so they can watch their kids' matches later. Another question would be, who prompted the official to take the film? Is it the result of someone looking around seeing someone video taping someone's match (other than their own kid), then filing a complaint? I can see it being an issue if someone is doing it for scouting purposes (or other reasons that the law would have to be involved in), but how would it be policed properly?

Nope, I was just joking.

Heck, maybe I'll put away the camera and just draw some real quick pictures of my own kid like those old court-room sketches we used to see on TV.

I know you can not tape another match in High School for scouting purposes. A tournament director can not take your property, no matter what you are doing. They could ask you to leave but there is no way they can take the tape.
