Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion Kids Folkstyle 1st year

Anyone have any idea of the stats on kids making it to state their first year ever wrestling? Just curious. My son is 10 and under 82 lbs, he is 9 years old and has made it. Just trying to be sure he sees what he has accomplished and how hard it is to get to state, much less in the first year. Thanks to anyone who replies and good luck to all at state, and lets all be sure we have fun there. Kids AND parents!!!!

I don't know stats-(don't follow all that closely) our son is a third year wrestler and he is 6 U (second year qualifying for state). What we tell him (as he is so young) is that he is one of the top 16 in the state of Kansas at 8 Under 43 to make it and that is an accomplishmet in itself. Be proud of what you have accomplished-have fun and Wrestle your best.

Just tell him you are proud of him, that he is an awsome wreslter and you love him. And that you would love him even if he wasn't a great wrestler! And of course, have some fun, too. That is all they really need or want to know.
