National Collegiate Wrestling Association

The NCWA is considering adding a women's division, folkstyle. This would give college females the opportunity to wrestle folkstyle as they did in high school. Any thoughts?

My initial response is that both NCAA and the NCWA should wrestle the same style. Since I'm not convinced you could get them to change, that means I think NCWA should wrestle Freestyle.

Are you making a POSITIVE difference in the life of kids?

The NCWA follows the NCAA rules except the NCWA added a 235 weight class.

I feel there is a need for any type of College wrestling for Women. These young women, strive to be successful toward their chosen sport of wrestling then when they graduate its all over for most of them. They need this opportunity, they have worked hard for this opportunity. Most of them have to be on a boys team their entire highschool wrestling years. If they can survive the 4 years they have had to wrestle with boys then why does it have to stop all of a sudden after highschool? Why? They should be able to have the opportunity to follow their dreams also. There are great girl wrestlers out there being overlooked because they are not of the correct gender but these ladies are coming out of the wood work and taking a chance at their dream. Having to go other states far from their homes and then taking a chance on doing their best and maybe not even getting recruted to a team due to their are so few colleges and little space for all of them. Not that they are not good enough, but those spots fill up pretty quick when there is so little colleges offering Women's wrestling to the menu. Go for it I say, do it put it on the agenda. Those of you that take the initiative to help these young women are seeing their true value to the sport. Bless you for opening the doors and the eyes of the leaders of this sport. you will be thanked by many women wrestlers who are waiting for a chance just to wrestle and go to college.
