This past weekend I had the privilege of attending the State Leaders Summit in Colorado Springs that was held by USA Wrestling.
Amongst all the meetings where we squabbled over whether Fargo should be held over 6 days or 8 ... and debated the National calendar of events, we had a few guest speakers. Among the presenters, was Joel Sharratt, the head wrestling coach for the United States Air Force Academy.
Coach Sharratt was asked to speak on leadership. I want to share a story he told to illustrate a point!
A young father and his two sons, ages 4 and 7, walked up to ticket window to attend a ballgame. The sign on the building said, Adults $5.00, Kids (under 12) $2.00, and Children (under 6) Free. The father asked the attendant for 1 adult and 1 kid.
The attendant handed him the tickets the father had requested and said, "how old's the boy?" (pointing to the 7-year old) The father acknowledged, "he's 7."
The attendant chuckled and said, "you could have told me he was 6 ... I'd never have known." The father looked at the attendant and said, "but they would know!"
In our lives we have many opportunities to teach lessons, are we taking every opportunity to teach the right ones!!
