Anyone going up from Wichita area let me know. If you are wrestling in the Hayseville Open on Saturday and make weight you will NOT have to weigh in Sunday morning if wrestling the same weight which means we leave a little later. Please let's fill the weights.

Would be nice if we can find someone who will be willing to take phone updates and post on the internet. I'll make the phone calls mat side if we have someone willing to do the input on the forum. Let me know if interested.

Just a note that I will try to post results as I have them for Team Kansas tomorrow, Monday as I am just now getting home. What I will say at this point is WOW! This tournament had some of the best competition, and best matchups of any tournament I think I have ever been to. Team Kansas Matside Maulers took 3rd place and every kid had tough match ups throughout the tournament. Special thanks to Jason and the folks at Park Hill, Mike Purcel, Will Cokeley and especially Eric Akin who coached the boys and gave each of the wrestlers a t-shirt from his own collection of shirts. It was also good to see all of the Kansas fans and family there, Coach Peterman of the Cadet team and numerous others.
On a personal note, if anyone there video taped Nate's match with Mac Bailey I would really appreciate a copy of it, I don't think anyone expected that battle to be what it was. From those that where there, they experienced a day of wrestling that I believe all would agree was a day of competition that equaled virtually any national tournament. Again great job to all involved and thank you.

Results from the Team Central Duals Championships are now posted, click on Results . Mr. Furches, nice to have met you today. Your right about the Mac Bailey and Nathan Furches match, it was exciting to watch. Alot of tough competition, National caliber wrestlers and etc. I would like to personally thank KS for taking the time to attend Team Central Duals. I hope that everyone enjoyed themselves and had a safe trip home.

Note from Mike Furches: Richard I have made corrections to the scores.
Lastly, Chris Watson who wrestled for Team Central at 115 lbs. is a former Kansas Kids State Champion for Wichita Wrestling Club.

First thanks Richard, you made my job much easier this morning, you continue to do a great job and it is much appreciated. All of these young men wrestled well and represented their teams. There were several tough teams there and some of the best wrestlers from Missouri, Kansas, and Iowa. There were several weights that had numerous national champions in them and the team looked at the end of the day like they had been involved in battle.
For those there, Nathan is doing a little better now and we both appreciate all of the kind words and getting to meet many of our Kansas Wrestling family. There are a number of great kids and I would especially like to comment on my first viewing of Aaron Seybold. I have got to say this about this young man, he is all that and a bag of potato chips with a Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper with a little Debbie cake for desert to boot. There were many others and our state has much to be proud of. Thanks again to all that helped see to it that this tournament had the opportunity to happen.

I'll add my two cents...What started off as us wanting to take some of the "Matside" kids (the ones working with Eric Akin) quickly grew to a live of it's own. This was our first crack at a dual tournament and the wrestling was much more than we had hoped for. It did not start out to be a "Kansas" team but thank to the many kids from around that helped us fill out our team. If we go to more and as more people find out about how much fun and how competitive these are I would like to entertain fielding a true "all-kansas" team and bring kids in from everywhere. I know there is a super tough dual tournament in Jan in St. Louis....
Thanks to all involved,
Mike Pursel

Thank you Mike Furches for the kind words you had to say about our son Aaron Seybold. He wrestled extremely tough yesterday and we are so very proud of him! I would also like to say that this was also our first viewing of your son Nathan and OH...what talent that young man brings to the mat! We enjoyed watching every one of his matches yesterday. It was just an all around tough tournament with so much competition and so much for each and every one of these fine wrestlers to be proud of. Thank you Erik Akin, Mike Purcel and Will Cokeley....Job well done!

To Jason, Mike & Mrs. Seybold.
Jason - Thanks for the Mr. but Mike will do, also Special thanks to you guys, what wonderful hosts and it was a real pleasure meeting you. Look forward to seeing you again and spending more time.
To Mike: Thanks and count us in anytime. Erik was great and I know that Dan Gentzler and I are looking at bringing some kids up for the Sunday evening workouts with Eric. Anyone in the Wichita area interested in going let me or Dan Gentzler know. I think we could leave around 3:00 or 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon from Wichita and be home by 11:30. If taking a nap after church or one in the early afternoon the kids should be fine for school on Monday.
To Mrs. Seybold, your whole family was wonderful to meet. For those new wrestling families out there, one of the wonderful things about our sport is realizing the family that is developed. Experiencing this with your club is wonderful; to realize this with your state and those from other teams is heavenly. Mrs. Seybold, I know this after watching all of these kids wrestle and being a part of a team together, I’ll be cheering for them unless they are going against someone in Derby Green or each other. If against each other, I’ll just marvel at some talented wrestling.

Mike, I would have to agree with you 100% about the family that is developed with wrestling. When I didn't have a coach for my son at the Cliff Keen Kickoff, I put a posting out saying how we needed one...the response I received was outstanding. You don't get the same connection with the other wrestlers or the families in any other sport.

It was great to see these younger guys learning the team concept and the team dual process. They were going at it. Keep up the good work Kansas!
