On behalf of the Burlington Wrestling Club, I would like to thank the 500 wrestlers from 43 clubs that attended our annual tournament on Sunday!! We had a great day of wrestling with lots of good matches and many great brackets for both Open and Novice wrestlers.
In the Club Championship competition, I would like to congratulate Burlington, the Junior Vikings and Emporia on finishing in the top three. Also, a special congratulations goes out to the Emporia Wrestling Club on winning the Sportsmanship Award that is selected by the tournament officials.
Finally, we would like to thank all of our wrestling parents and community members that supported our tournament. Our parents do a great job with everything from setup to cleanup. They also run a great concession stand thanks to the leadership of wrestling moms Jena Jacobs-Garcia and Cindy Ditto. Michelle Vander Linden does an incredible job of coordinating entries, awards and brackets. (Plus putting up with me!!) Also, we appreciate the Allen County and Ottawa wrestling clubs for working tables along with Kim Burtin of Eureka.
