The time has come for Kansan's to take a hard look at how OW's are awarded. Do we really want a popularity contest or do we want the best wrestler on that day recognized for a job well done?

Max Ortega from New Mexico. He won 6-3 in his 140 Final. A fantastic wrestler, but was he the most outstanding for this tournament?

I never have posted on here and never wanted to but at this time i will defend my wrestler from things that happend this weekend. Actually ryne was the 4 seed, did he deserve the OW not even close were you actually there or did you just get play by play from the stands anyways they forgot to mention how nice it is to film another wrestler and study it during the day pretty low if you ask me its high school and not allowed also it was a 2-2 match with barber when barber was in on a shot in the third and got caught in a saunders cradle, hey it happens.congrats ryne won and good luck the rest of the year.

Chief should you not provide a disclaimer and disclose your close relationship with the Cokeley.

Inasmuch as I was not in attendance I can not speak to the Outstanding Wrestler award but I do have complete confidence in the coaches who vote on the award and know they undoubtedly have more credibility than an armchair quarterback.

And do we need any guidance from a transplanted Oklahoman who has made claim to be from SE Kansas? Eric, simply put, you lack the credibility to offer any suggestions.

Max Ortega, who I have personally seen wrestle on several occasions, entered the tournament with a 36-0 record, pinned his first three (3)opponents and defeated Jake Snider, a defending Class 5A Colorado state champion from Ponderosa High School.

Outstanding Wrestler credentials from my armchair quarterback position.

KUDOS to Ryne Cokeley for an outstanding tournament!

Dick,

You are the king of searching out typos. Are you suggesting that we all turn in birth certificates in order to give guidance to Kansas wrestling?

P.S. You are making it hard for me to keep the "Richard truce".
