I have a question. In the times of the great win streaks and coaches getting their 100th, 200th, and 300th dual wins etc. Were there any dual tournaments available when teams like Kapaun were winning dual after dual or did they just do it over a long period of time.
Example.. did Kapaun get their consecutive dual record by winning 10 duals a year and do it over a 20 + year period or did they also attend dual tournaments where they could get 5 dual wins in one day or 8 in two days?
Just curious....
Richard... might need your input here!

Most teams seem be limiting the amount of duals they have in order to increase the amount of large tournaments they can attend (thanks to our point system). These large tourneys allow wrestlers to see better competition and a wider range of competitors. It seems to me that makes the dual win streak harder to accomplish now because teams have to win over a longer period of time.
I hope the point system statement doesn't get anyone stirred up in an anti-KSHSAA rant! (Mr. Cokley) LOL

I know Coach Jeff Giles of Minneapolis got his 200th dual victory this year.
Congrats

I've been looking a various points of info: http://www.catchitkansas.com/global/Story.asp?s=6931650http://www.bcchs.org/sports/Wrestling/wrestling.htmJust wondering how both KMC (123 since ???, since catchitkansas.com makes it appear to be an ongoing record) & BC (95-0, undefeated in duals since 2001) can be working on unbeaten dual streaks? Haven't they squared off in GWAL action over the past 6-7 seasons? If I'm incorrect, please, please, please don't hate, just educate me. Thanks for being polite in your respose(s).

The Kapaun streak began in the 70's and ran into the 80's and the Bishop Carroll streak is current.

Maybe someone that have the firm dates of KMC's run should send them the catchitkansas.com wo they can fill in those dates on their site...

To me winning a dual, doesnt meen as much as it used to. Many schools now have a hard time filling every weight, If you can fill all the weights, you have a far better chance at winning duals, just by forfeits alone.

The author of the article on catchitkansas.com states: Editor's note: Brian McDonough is general sales manager at KWCH 12. It wasn't easy for him to write this column. He once wrestled for Kapaun Mt. Carmel, Carroll's arch-rival. He was a member of the Kapaun team when it put together a state-record streak of 123 consecutive dual victories. That's a streak Carroll might eventually threaten. The Golden Eagles have won 94 consecutive duals.
