The members of this forum provide a wealth of information about high school wrestling and I would like to tap that resource. Can anyone tell me the most dual wins a Kansas HS team has ever recorded in a season, regardless of class? Valley Center just completed a 31-3 dual season and I was wondering if any team had ever done better. Thanks.

Regarding the best dual record. Would it be better to wrestle for a school that wrestled duals or attend many tournaments/dual tournaments(the 6 team variety) to get the most matches out of your KSHAA points?

Baldwin High school goes to a mix of dual tournaments and regular tournaments plus a few duals mixed in during the week, and they seem to be getting close to 50 matches each year including state and regional matches.

The KSHSAA allows each wrestler 30 competition points. For a single dual it is one point, for a multi dual event in one day it is 2 points, for a one day tournament it is 3 points and a two day tournament is 4 points. I am not sure what constitutes a multi dual event (2, 3, 4, or 5 or if it is limited) other than the five match per day limit is always in effect. I believe to maximize the total number of matches for an individual it would be best to go to seven two day events getting five matches each day and then one 2 point dual event. I believe you could use this same concept by entering 2 day dual tournaments to rack up a large number of duals.

Theoretically you could amass 70 plus matches but I don't believe anyone has ever recorded even 50 wins in a season in Kansas.

Here is a link to KS state wrestling records. The season wins record is currently 46 by four wrestlers. Anybody have a chance to break that this year?

I appreciate the information and commentary. However, I don't think anyone answered my question -- what Kansas HS team has recorded the most team dual wins in a season? I wasn't asking about individual wins nor about KSHSAA points. Hope this clarifies the question. Thanks for your help.

I do not know of anywhere a record for dual wins is recorded officially. However, I have never heard of a team coming close to that many dual wins in a season. I would bet that would be a record, but can't say officially.

Congrats Coach Shelton and VC team!

Chase could win 48 if he wins out. Is BC in VC's regional?

I think if Chase won out he would only have 47- 3 at regionals and 4 at the state tournament

I'm pretty sure that the Augusta team has not lost a dual in over a year-and-a-half. Not sure how that compares to other teams....

he could still win out and be 46-3 depending if he gets a first round match at regionals, do all these teams at his regional have a 119lb wrestler?

I know Colby is undeafeated in duals and beat Valley Center 45-15 at the Colby dual tournament. I doubt that Colby wrestled 34 duals.

You are correct on both statements. Colby went 16-0 in duals this season.

The results were as follows:

Burlington, Co. 62-3
St. Francis 61-12
Hays 80-0
Oberlin 64-6
Shawnee Heights 51-9
Concordia 70-0
Phillipsburg 72-0
Garden CIty 50-18
Valley Center 45-15
Oakley 60-10
Hoxie 63-0
Oberlin 71-3
Garden City 42-26

Dual wins are really irrelevant. Teams and wrestlers get wins when the other team has an open weight. You shouldnt get a win unless you wrestle someone, unless it is a tourney and the guy has an injury. I think they are glorified practices. Colby's results in duals prove it. I mean only one of those duals was relatively close. Anytime the other team gets outscored 80-0, that defines practice to me. Now i am not trashing the Colby program or anything like that, i am just trashing duals. I think the fact that there is not state records on dual wins in a season also proves my point. Tourney results are more telling of your team than duals.

just my opinion.

wow, valley center is 31-3, very impressive. pretty amazing that concordia held them to I believe 12 points at the concordia quad. There were a few matches that could of went either way. Concordia doesnt have heavies or else valley centers record would be 30-4. great dual.
