Or have the 6 & under - wait their turn until they are all of 7 years old and they can wrestle in the 8 & under division.

I was just throwing out my choice of how I would vote. My son wrestled subs and district 8u when he was 5. He wrestled 6u state at Ottawa last yr and 8u subs. I have no problem letting my little guy wrestle up if he wants.

while your at it make your 8 and unders wrestle the 10 year old, the 10 year olds wrestle the 12 and so on. it ends when there is an equal playing field. just face it. those that want the 6 year olds state will not quit until it happens. so just give in and let it happen. doesnt matter to me if its a stand alone or whatever. i would like to see it centrally located and finished up by the time hs state starts. then the good 6 year olds can wrestle up if so desired. thats my story and im sticking with it.

I have a 6 and under this year and had one last year but he is 8 and under this year and he made it to state in Topeka last year at the age of 6..They both qualified for districts this year and here is my thought on things..6 and under has the most kids and I feel that if they are offering 6 and under at tournaments and a 6 and under district then I feel that it is not fair for those kids who wrestle really hard all year and do well to not have the same chance as everyone else to be at state..Sure they have a seperate one but anyone who signs up can go..and for those people that dont want to watch 6 and under kids wrestle dont that is why they have all different mats and match numbers..Noone makes you watch them..if the parents are willing to invest the time and the kids are willing to wrestle hard to make it to state just like their other team members who are we to tell them they are to young and cant..They are part of a team all year and then when what they worked for all year comes around they get beat out by kids who are 2 years older..I dont feel thats fair so I say add 6 and under to Topeka State just like the other weight classes..

I just hope that with all the interest in this issue that the powers that be will take a hard look at this issue and look into the options that they have. Then I hope they consult the people that make up USA Wrestling (you, me and them) and let us make the decision. With all the different 6U events (6U state, tournement of champions, district 3 championships) it clearly shows that there is a need/desire for this level of competition. Either add this to our state event (even if we have to change venues) or make one of these events (or make a new event that you MUST QUALIFY FOR) a true state event that declares one true champion. If the vote goes the other way then let's get a group of people to look into this question on a very regular basis (we need to do this because the issue will never go away) and let's move on to other issues. Let's talk about promoting and grow the sport! Let's talk about ideas for retention of wrestlers! Let's talk about issues that will make this sport better and better!

at first i was add them to the the other age goups and have 1 tournament, but after attending ottawa and seeing how well it was ran, all the attention was givin to these young wrestlers, parents were a little more relaxed and let these little guys and gals run around a little bit more, i feel it was alot mor safe for them, then running around all the bigger kids, i truly believe that a stand alone tournament is great, all the attention was on these future wrestlers, and i think it was great for them. but i believe it needs to be held sooner.

And I'm ok with that! Make it an event you must qualify for (I think 41 to 64 man brackets are a little excessive) AND let there be only ONE! I would love to see it on a date and a venue that let's people see both events (if they are seperate). There are a lot of benifits to doing this. I hope we see it happen soon!
