i am kinda new as you all know so i need some help understanding seeding? i know what it is but whats the point of it, why just not pull names and place them down the bracket as your name is pulled. is is it rewarding the better ones with byes.

Because you do not want your 2 best wrestlers to wrestle in the first round.

if you don't seed and let it be a random draw, your 2 best wrestlers could end up in the first match together. Seeding puts the #1 and #2 wrestlers as far apart as possible. The track wrestling will randomly add the byes into the bracket, along with any unseeded wrestlers. If a #1 seed gets a bye now it's just the luck of the draw, unless all wrestlers are seeded and there is one bye it will go to the #1 wrestler. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I started learning it all over again when my boy started wrestling. I'm 42 with a 7yr old 3rd yr wrestler and a 2yr old future wrestler. It has been 24 yrs since I've been on a mat competeing and I love the way my son is taking to the sport. My littlest can't wait to "wessle like bubby". I will have to sign my post kolton & kyzers dad next yr. lol

your a little older than i am but i feel the same. I also have a 7 year old and a 3 year old. the 3 year old is a little fireball and a replica of myself. Lets just hope he turns out to be a better wrestler than I was and not chase too many girls when he gets to the highschool level. I am also getting back into coaching and wrestling since I have been out of coaching since I was in college along time ago. All in all I am learning alot just in this one year and things change on a daily basis.

man bockman and mmeditz you 2 make me feel old already. 31 here a 5 year old boy and a 7 year old girl. i was going to let aspyn wrestle she's my 7 year old, but i started teaching her submissions when she was 3 and she is pretty good i dont let her wrestle with jeffrey, because she always catches him in a kamora, or an armbar, and she hurt him badly a few month's ago. just thought i would talk about my daughter she wanted to know why i always talk about him so i said i would mention her. her favorite ufc fighter is iceman chuck been trying to get her on cotures favorite. better quit rambling on.

I will try to make all of you feel young.
Here are my childrens ages...22,20,19,19,18,16 and 13.

I hate to admit it but I miss the time when I had four sons wrestling at the same time.

Me and my wife are just a short time away from being empty nesters and I just turned 40!

Oh and dont forget my grandchildren!

I have been very blessed to have a great wife and children!

Make the most of your young ones and ensure that they love the sport of wrestling!

I'm 33 with a 9 year old girl that wrestles (and majority of the time can beat her brother), and a 8 year old son (this is his 4th year wrestling). We let them make a choice of what they want to do. Our rule is that they cannot do two sports at the same time. Example, my son is missing baseball this year so he can do some freestyle and football. My daughter wrestles the girls tournaments, and the girls season has just started. I say let them make the choice.
