Were there many others that didn't make weight in Pittsburg? At 14/110, the top three seeds didn't make weight and the #2 seed at 14/100 missed also.

All the scales had secret micro processors on them that would sense kids from the KC area and automatically jump up 2 pounds or maybe 4.

Chief,

There was nothing wrong with the scales. All the kids used the same scales. I was helping to run weigh-ins. Kids have to learn that drinking water in the shower or where ever puts on weight.
BAD TOPIC TO START. 14 kids did not make weight. If you leave 1 pound over the night before and come back the next morning 3 over - you definitely shoved something in your mouth. Several other kids did not make weight the first night - came back the next morning and did the job. Made weight - PERIOD. Some did not.
Some of the kids changed their weight before the seeding meeting and shouldn't have. End of this discussion. A few of us in the weigh-in room were call BLANKEEDY BLEEP, BLANK. One kid's mother said her son had 4 hotdogs, pizza, drinks etc. And it still was my fault her boy did not make weight and she said "you BLANKEEDY BLEEP, BLANK." Well the words were a little different - but you get the picture. Make weight boys or go out for golf.

Oh there were 4 or 5 certified scales and they could weigh in on any scale they wanted to.

Clears things up a bit, huh. Good response Sean. It was only what I heard and I figured there was another informed side of it. I think some kids do that on purpose.

I had the longest name until I was 17 or 18 years old. My dad would say: Goshdarnit, get over here!
Goshdarnit what are you doing? Goshdarnit where are you going?
Goshdarnit you are over how many pounds. Goshdarnit what is this on your report card. Goshdarnit your room is a mess. Goshdarnit put my tools back where you found them. I did not figure out my real name was Sean until I moved out of the house. So - some of you parents at these tournaments do not call me BLANKEEDY BLEEP, BLANK my name is Goshdarnit. I also have 3 brothers with the same first name Sonofagun (Son-of-a-gun)and my 2 sisters name are Dangit. I guess that made it easier to fill out all the school forms and signups.

Sincerely,

Goshdarnit

Goshdarnit,

Be grateful they thought you were special enough for your own name and not just sonofagun like the rest.

Mr. McCarthy,
My son was the one that ate 4 hot dogs and pizza. Yes, I was extremely upset with him for not telling me until we arrived there in Pittsburg about his little eating binge, we would have came sooner than 7:00. I never cursed any of you out because my son did not make weight. He was two pounds over that night, we weren't able to "re-weigh" friday night because he did not get upstairs fast enough before the weigh ins shut down. Yes, I was upset that he did not make it up there in time, but that was his fault, he was told many times to get up there. If you thought that I was cursing you all out, then I greatly apologize, but I never said anything along the lines of bleep, bleep, bleep. And also, we went home that night, and he ran off the 4 hotdogs and pizza, and made weight just fine the next morning. Also, I never questioned the scales being off, I mean come on, 4 hot dogs and pizza, yes, of course he was going to be over. I apologize if you felt that my anger towards him was directed at you.

At 14/110, at least one of those wrestlers decided he didnt want to wrestle kids state. Had nothing to do with not making weight.

Good luck to all!!!

Another of the 14U 110 wrestlers did not attempt to make weight. He was a high school wrestler who was burnt out.
