This was my first year going to the 6 and under state championship and I want to say, WE WILL BE BACK. The people involved were wonderful, the officials did a great job with the little ones, the table workers were very knowledgeable and courteous. The staff and concessions workers were very nice and I could go on and on about our great experience. My son wrestled well enough to place 6th in the 37lb weight class and all he has been talking about today was the fact that he got to walk in and everyone was clapping. He also thought it was really cool that he got to wrestle on a full size mat like the high school kids in the 5th and 6th match.
Once again, thank you for everyone who helped put the tournament on. Every one of those little ones who went out to wrestle with that competition in that atmosphere are champions.

I agree. all those kids are champions. it was fun to watch. even though my son didnt wrestle his best. he ended up 5th. not what we were hoping for but hey that fisher kid is really good. didnt get to see the bonner springs kid except for in the finals and he thought he wrestled fisher pretty tough. the miller kid from osborne was impressive. i put on another post that the robinson kid would surprise somebody. too bad it was my own kid but hey that happens and christian wrestled very good. those top 6 wrestlers are going to be fun to watch in the future. 55 and 61 were fun to watch too.

I think that Ottawa did a great job as well! Using the 2-gym system made this move much faster than last year and it was much more comfortable for all of the spectators. Our mat was complete and ready for the Parade before 1:00. We stayed through the podium announcements for the 70 lb kids and were still on the road home by 5:00. Last year the Parade didn't even start until 6 or 6:30.
We probably won't be back for a year or two until we get the young one rolling around on the mat, but we look forward to attending Ottawa again!
