Unlimited Fitness is teaming up with Tonganoxie High School to offer the 2nd annual summer wrestling league. The details of our wrestling league is listed below:
· Dates: Thursdays, June 5th – 26th (Incoming Freshman to Seniors to be)
· Times: There will be a technique session from 5:00-6:00 prior to the matches beginning at 6:00pm
· Location: Tonganoxie High School Wrestling Room (Upstairs in the East campus High School)
· Cost: $29 per wrestler
· Teams: Five wrestlers to a team. They can wear no school affiliated uniform or singlet. T-Shirt and shorts are acceptable. A school may enter more than one team.
· Individual Registration: Individuals may register and be placed on any team short a wrestler. Otherwise additional teams will be developed for unaffiliated wrestlers.
· Competition: We will match wrestlers up as best we can based on level and weight. Common differences will be around 10 pounds. Tourney weight will be the average of the previous 5 weeks. Weight cutting is DISCOURAGED!! Matches will be arranged before each night. They will be 2-1-1, using HS overtime if needed. Exhibition matches may be arranged.
· Points: Team points will be scored. There will be a penalty only for a forfeit.
· Subs: Each team may use one or more subs. If a wrestler does not show and no sub is present, the team will forfeit that match. It is best if you contact Jeremy by phone with sub info or if a wrestler will be gone prior to arrival so the schedule can be set for the night.
· Awards: T-Shirts will be given to the winning team.
· Entries and fees are due May 22nd. There will be a minimum number of teams and wrestlers for the league to begin.
· Questions: For registration questions call Tiffany Parker at 913-369-6792
-For wrestling questions email me @ JGoebel@tong464.org and I will send you a flyer as well.

** Last year was the first year doing this and it was a great way to get kids in the room and some competition as well. Most of the kids received 15-20 matches which was great. Also this year we are going to have some technique and drills the hour prior to starting the live wrestling in which I think will hopefully let the kids see other ways of wrestling presented by various high school coaches.
-Look forward to having a great turn out for some Summer Wrestling!

We just got an application sent in for a team up of Aquinas wrestlers. Is anyone else sending a team? It looks like this is the last week for registration.

That is great. Will you have a heavier wrestler over 200 on the team?

Uh, no. We were open at 215 & 285 this past year. Most big kids in our town are average football players and either too lazy or too (insert adjective) to wrestle. We do now have a kids club - - wOOO-HOOO!! and I've got a couple of Hosses in junior high, but if you're looking for someone for Jacob to throw around, I am willing to sacrafice myself.

Good, then he can stop throwing me around. I need wrestling season to start now. At least I can send him on Thursdays nights to Smokeycabin's practices. Jacob can't throw Smokeycabin around like he does me.

I am not quite sure how the league works, but if it is a weekly schedule we can try to have Jacob's team brings a lighter wrestler to substitute for him. Then you and Jacob can just have an exhibition match.

Reminder League starts this Thursday @ The High School. There will be signs leading you to the wrestling room which is located upstairs. Wednesday I will start pairing the kids up and each wrestler usually received at least 2 matches last year some had 4 depending on the weights. If you want to still come call immediately so I can have them paired up and ready to go when it starts. Also there is technique being showed from 5-6 and wrestling begins at 6:00. Last year we had a great turn out for starting something new. The main goal is to get kids matches and take a little bit learned and share with teammates to have a successful season this next year. Look forward to starting and if you know someone that should be signed up but thinks it is to late just have them call tomorrow to the gym so they can get there info!!

For all who missed it this was a great night of wrestlting! Midweek, we were done by 9:00pm (before the storms!) and kids got about 3 matches of good quality. Great job to coach Goebel for putting this on. There was about 55-60 kids I think. One weight for example had Brock-Tongie, Blew-Lansing, Patton-Wellsville, and Woofter SME in it. Some pretty good wrestling. They did a good job of putting kids of similiar abilities together as well so all the kids got something out of it.
