The committee convened last night and we have selected the following kids to be members of Team Jayhawk. I will be adding four additional alternates. I need confirmation from all of the wrestlers listed below by end of the day Thurs or I will fill the spot with another wrestler.
Weight First Last Club 75 Zach Gentzler Andover 80 Austin Hood Paola 85 Cullen Hood SW Grapplers 85 Tommy Williams Olathe 90 Dylan Schumacher Hays 95 Timothy Prescott Smokey Valley 100 Hunter Haralson Baldwin 105 Colby Watters Ark City 110 Ky Biddle Central 115 Alex Bontz WWC 120 Brandon Charbonneau Clay Center 125 Braxston Medina Greater Gold 130 Jonathon Heiman Greater Gold 135 Sam Son Chanute 140 Matt Reed TOHK 145 Reece Conklin Paola/Matside 152 160 Jared McComb Chanute 171 Tyler Woodruff Goddard 189 Darrien Willis Spartans 250 Eric Mason Caney Please understand that this is a tough process. I wish there was a way to put every kid who wants to wrestle on the first team but it is not possible. All teams will be in the same tournament so there is no difference in competition. The KS teams will be seperated but could face each other in the medal rounds.

Actually, Tim, I am promoting the idea of trotting out on the mat in a Mizzou Tiger singlet as a protest...

I feel my Jayhawk feathers starting to rise. As much as I hate to admit it though, MU has a very good D1 wrestling program and I don't think that KU will ever have one. KSU would likely be the best Kansas "State" University to pull off having a successful D1 wrestling program, and I hope at some point in the near future they will. Rock Chalk!

Tom - Please let me know if you get that arranged, I would make the trip just to get a picture of you in the singlet, however I would respectfully suggest that you have TOMMY wear the singlet instead. I'm trying not to have visions..........

Will's been asking people to participate on this forum for months. Also, for those that did not know about this wonderful opportunity, he and others kept their eyes out for kids that could help Team Kansas. That is not to say that we didn't overlook someone, so if you have someone that can help us and would like to wrestle for one of Team Kansas' three teams, get ahold of Cokely asap. Only a few spots left. The ones that come to mind are 120, 130, 189. Also need alternates on each team. Alternates WILL get plenty of mat time also. But on top of the mat time, it will be a fun trip that will allow the top kids from Kansas a chance to meet and get to know some of the other top kids from Kansas and across the country. This will be our first year going, but I have never had a parent of kid tell me that they had anything less than a great experience at the Middle School duals.

Go team PowerCats!! There's no such thing as a Jayhawk anyway
(or PowerCat for that matter).

I'm sure they do have intramural wrestling at KU. They also have a club team, at least they did while I was at K-State. I'll tell you, I had a good time Rock-Chalking that Jayhawk that I wrestled. But, that is neither here nor there, and shouldn't be here on this thread.
