Here are the details regarding the 2008 Dixie National Trip to Atlanta, Georgia on Monday, Dec. 29th. Bill Gossett, the tournament director, has extended the entry deadline to Monday, Dec. 22nd. If you are interested in attending this event and traveling with the Team Central group please contact me.

This year there will be a rookie division again for wrestlers who have competed two years or less.

What I will need is your wrestler's age, weight class and any seeding information to accompany his/her entry.

Below is the tournament website.
http://www.dixienationalswrestling.com/main.html

A chartered bus will leave on Saturday, Dec. 27th in the evening at 8pm from Park Hill High School. We will travel overnight and arrive in Atlanta on Sunday, Dec. 28th. The team will get in a work out and then weigh-in that afternoon (2pm) for the tournament. We will stay in the Omni hotel on Sunday night and then wrestle on Monday. We will assign 3-4 people to a room and if you are traveling on the bus then you do not need to make your own hotel arrangements. If you would like your own room then please let me know and additional costs will apply. The hotel information is provided below:

After the tournament on Monday we will head back to Kansas City and arrive on Tuesday morning.

Costs: For all wrestlers and parents the cost is $250.00 per person.

What is covered with the above amount:

Travel to and from the tournament via a chartered bus. Hotel stay at the Omni hotel. Workout opportunity at the Georgia World Congress Center on Sunday. Tournament entry fee for wrestlers. Admission to the tournament for non-wrestlers/parents. Coach's pass for coaches.

What is not covered: Meals for Sunday and Monday. Please have your wrestler bring money for these expenses. For wrestlers traveling with the team, if you would like a coach to hold onto a wrestler's money and provide it when needed that can be arranged.

Pick up and drop off location will be at Park Hill High School.

If you have any questions please email me at jasonkeck@yahoo.com or give me a call at

816-863-7002. Let me know who is in!!! Space is limited. I will fill the seats on the bus on a first come first serve basis.

Thanks.

Any tournament in District 2 is tougher than Dixie. I wouldn't waste the money unless you are just out trophey hunting. And with what happened last year at Liberty, the trophies might not even be worth it any more.

Two years ago my son had 4 usa national FS placers, and 3 other very tough kids from MI, CA, and VA. Last year he got 5th on the heels of winning the CK kickoff and getting 2nd at Tulsa the year before. I am not saying it's Tulsa nationals but in the core weights it is tougher than he KS tournements at Coffeyville, Rossville, or Paola which are the only 3 listed.

Results from last year 12u/80

Champion Dean Heil OH
2nd Bryce Shoemaker MO
3rd Austin Reese OH
4th Devin Weber WI
5th Aaron Hartman FL
6th Casey Dodson TN

Bryce Shoemaker pinned his way through the state tournament so a little tougher in Dixie.

14u/85 4 of the top 6 are Tulsa placers.

Champion Jerod Cortez OH
2nd Skylar Wood MO
3rd Thomas Gilman IA
4th Mitchell Lax GA
5th Dalton Langford FL
6th Jeremiah Lutz GA

Top 3 are brutal!

14u/90 Bo has won 4 out of the last 5 kids state titles, would probably not get 5th in a district 2 tournament.

Champion Freddie Rodriquez MI
2nd Spencer Rickman GA
3rd Hunter Weber WI
4th Jordan Wigger SC
5th Bo Purcell KS
6th Adam Sams OH

Maybe you had a bad experience, but there are some good kids there!

To those I offended let me make this clarification. 6U and 8U were weak. 12U and 14U may be a different story. I was not impressed with the tournament when Jake went two years ago. They overcharged, had us wrestling in a basement, and the competition in the age division we were in was sub-par. I could still be a little put off by the way Liberty was handled last year, and it is ran by the same group.

I received several calls over the weekend about this tournament and traveling with Team Central. I need to have all the entries into Bill Gosset by tomorrow morning so if you are still thinking about this opportunity I need to know ASAP. Thanks.
