CLAREMORE, Okla. — Pittsburg High School wrestler Jordan Brown helped lead the Purple Dragon wrestling team to an 11th-place finish Saturday at the Claremore (Okla.) Invitational.
Brown finished with a 2-1 mark to place second in the 160-pound weight class.
He was among three Dragons that placed at the 18-team tournament.
Columbus placed sixth as a team as senior C.J. Napier continued his unbeaten streak this season, finishing 3-0 to win the 135-pound division.
Chanute, the other Southeast Kansas League school at Claremore, finished third behind meet champion Claremore and Locust Grove.
For Pittsburg, Aaron Seybold finished 3-1 and placed third at 103 pounds while Daniel Blair went 4-1 and also finished third at 152 pounds.
Brent Koehn was 3-2 at 119 pounds and just finished out of medal contention. Austin Winner wrapped up the tournament with a 2-2 mark at 215 pounds. Austin Haake (112), Devin Schulze (140) and Kyle Baker (285) all went 0-2 and did not place while Cougar VonFeldt was 0-1 at 189 pounds.
Columbus had four other wrestlers place in the top four.
Tank Burns went 3-1 and placed second at 285 pounds while Nick Thomas (135) went 4-2 and Damion Tinnin (152) went 3-2. Both placed fourth in their weight classes. B.T. O’Hara finished with a 3-2 record and placed fourth at 140 pounds.
Jacob York went 0-2 at 103 pounds, Zach Conway was 1-2 at 119 pounds, Kyle Johnson missed medaling with a 2-2 mark at 130 pounds, Paul Morris was 0-2 at 160, Brandon Alberty went 0-2 at 171, Nathan Morris was 2-2 at 189 and David Lloyd was 1-2 at 215.
