Hey I was wondering if anyone can explain to me what the difference is between Bronze and Copper certifications ? I know you have to be Bronze certified to coach in Kansas but curious as to what the different types there are and what you need them for or how they help you? thanks for your help

to coach at most tourneys in kansas you only need to have a usa coaches card (no test just purchase ) ans as far as I understand it the only tie you need a bronze card is at subs districts and state. I may be wrong but I believe that this is right.

Briefly, the Copper level coaches card is the entry level for coaches education requiring approximately a four (4) hour time committment. The Bronze level is the next level and requires a time committment of approximately four (4) to six (6) hours.

PART B – QUALIFYING FOLKSTYLE TOURNAMENTS
Rule 2-2-2
The safety mat area defined in modified Rule 2-1-2 must be kept clear at all times, except for two coaches per wrestler. Only coaches with copper or bronze level will be allowed mat side at all qualifying tournaments.

This issue was discussed at the annual meeting and the consensus of the State Body was only Bronze level certified coaches would be allowed mat side for all qualifying tournaments. In order to fulfill the wishes of the State Body the rule will be addressed at the next Rules Committee meeting.

Thanks for your response Richard!

Currently, Kansas does not offer any Copper clinics. This level of certification is offered "on-line!"

From the Kansas perspective, we think the Bronze certification is a much better program. One of the strengths of this level is the inter-personal contact amongst a clinician and several perspective coaches that gather in one place. The camaraderie in Bronze clinics cannot be replaced in the Internet environment.
