My son just TXT me from Rochester and they are expecting upto 7" of snow with an .10" ice under it Thursday. So if your going, you might throw in a little extra stuff to keep warm and allow a little more time to get there.

If you see a black Dodge P/U in the ditch or a snow drift, stop and help push will ya!!!

See ya there - I hope!!

I see Travis Budke has won his first two. What do you have to place to be All American?

I saw a lot of great wrestling today, in what turned out to be a very good tournament. I thought the Ref”s had done a good job. My only complaint was in the money round in the Consolation round. I know it’s a thankless job, but the table workers running the clock screwed a young gentleman from Labette out of placing. The Ref would start the match the last period and the timekeeper would repeatedly not start the clock. They even had the riding time going in the wrong direction when they did have it running. The Ref had finally noticed the last time they hadn’t started the clock and removed a few seconds off the clock, but not anywhere near as much as the time that didn’t run off. The young gentleman from Labette lost the match in the last 5 seconds in a match that should have already been over. I just hated to see someone’s season come to an end on sloppy timekeeping.

Derek Heckel from Ulysses lost the first round and came all the way through the back side to take fourth at 184. Proud of you Derek! Way to battle back.

Well....

Labette finished fifth up there. Colby snuck past them by a half a point when they won in the finals at 149. There were some great, good, and poor performances from the Cards. Even with a nearly perfect tourney I don't know that this team could have beat Iowa Central. Iowa Central had a nearly flawless tourney and overachieved at many weights. The good news is...seven of ten guys are coming back next year. The Cards had some guys step up out there but some of the big guns didn't perform very well.

We are proud of Derek too. The guy he lost to in the first round wound up National Champion. Also we were anxiously sitting through the HWT final, as you see above Derek had 4 pins, that had him tied with Clackamas HWT in amount, but Heckel's time of falls were faster by nearly 40 seconds. Didn't work out though and finished 2nd in the most falls category.
