Lansing takes second in 5A with 3 Champs (103 Bo Pursel over Waters Ark City, 130 Spencer Blew over Kash Biddle Ark City, 171 Grant Hinckly over Josh Van Hiolland Mill Valley). Plus 3 5th place and one 3rd and one 4th place. All this with one freshman, 5 sophmores, one junior, and one senior. One other sophmore won 2 matches. This team came out of the Bishop Miege regional everyone lamblasted--and rightly so. Had a very good season all year long--especially when they were all well and fit.

Congrats to Emporia on 1st Place!!! Good strong team!!!

Lansing is the real deal. Young, tough, and deep with experience. They lose Hinkley but gain 2 good freshman next year. I look for them to be back in the hunt next year. Very impressive this weekend. Congrats.

Lots of great wrestling this weekend. Emporia looked great, and so did Lansing. Congrats to both Grant Hinckley of Lansing and Josh Van Holland of Mill Valley for great careers and an exciting final match. Both are quality wrestlers and even finer young men that made their teams and their sport proud.

Great job to the Lansing coaching staff!!! A excellent group of young wrestlers too. They are going to have a great run the next couple years. Congrats to Grant Hinkley for going out in style. The other two seniors also wrestled well and best of luck to Wes Appleget and Brian Snodgrass. Every single kid wrestled their butts off. The rest will be back next year for more with 7 state placers including two state champs returning, plus some other quality kids ready to go. Spencer Blew was amazing by the way, and should be considered for the 5a OW by pinning his way through in quick fashion. I know Nitcher went 50-0 and his year was overall The OW season, but Blew's performance at the state tournament and 35 pins in the year are amazing.

It was a great ride. Let's do it again.

Unfortunately the OW for State is called Outstanding Senior Wrestler. Spencer will have to repeat his awesome feet again in two years. By the way to all those who doubted (especially Coach Buckbee) a big I TOLD YOU SO regarding Mr. Blew. I pushed all year for him to be ranked high in 5A but to no avail. Spencer, congrats and thanks for making me look like I know what I am talking about! smile
