I remember watching this kid wrestle in little kids and he was a stud. What ever happened to him?

Greetings! I was just getting my dose of KS wrestling when this thread caught my eye. It is fun that some of you remember Clay (my son) even if I dont know who you are. I will give a brief update on Clay. We moved to Minden, NE and Clay started his fr. year there. He was having a great start to his HS career when he broke his back. To make a long story short he has undergone 2 major back surgeries and has enough hardware in his back to start a hardware store! He was never able to compete after that and never will again. However he can walk and live basically a normal life. He actually went to the 321A state trny. two weeks ago. We all miss the KS wrestling scene and especially the NW Kansas wrestling. I hate to admit it but I even miss Jenkins and Frewen! LOL Keep wrestling tough and a big "Hello" to all!

Jim,

Sorry to hear about Clay's injury. Hate to hear about a talented kid, or anyone for that matter, having to suffer through something like that. I'm sure it has been tough not having him involved in the sport, but you must be thrilled that he is doing okay. Good to see you still checking up on KS wrestling. Take Care!

Hey Scott! Great to hear from you! I do my best to keep up with all the wrestling in KS. You know how it gets in your blood! You are right it has been very hard not being able to watch Clay wrestle. For a while it was an extremely tough burden to bear. I dont know if I will ever get over the "what ifs". However they say time heals all wounds and in this case that is right. We are all moving on and Clay has been extremely mentally tough through it all. We know things could be much, much worse. I would advise all to enjoy EVERY moment, the wins, losses, trips, good and bad. When it is snatched from you and is gone it is greatly missed.
