Why would C. Rylant FF the next round ? I'm assuming nothing was wrong with him. Wrestle the match. You would think that his goal would be to win the tournament.

Rylant - The goal is to win tournament! The goal is to finish as high as possible to insure the best possible seed in the following tournament! It's not about seeing the competition, it's about wrestle the competition! At the minimum C. Rylant should have wrestled the semi-final match. To be perfectly blunt-You are wrong on a number of matters....

I do think that it is wrong to FF a match if you can wrestle, I don't care what your reasoning is. From the previous post by Richard, it sounds like it was not only a bad idea, but possibly a way lose your bid for State.

Based on preliminary information it appears both wrestlers who forfeited their matches also forfeited their opportunity to advance.

I am assuming that the 5th and 6th place kids would take the 3rd and 4th place spots if the info provided by Rylant is found to be true...
1. The wrestler that placed 4th was hurt before the tourney and chose to FF his 1st match, as well as the 3rd/4th place match. 2. That Rylant's wrestler chose to FF a match that could have put him in the 1st/2nd place round just so he could wrestle the kid that had originally forfeited on the backside.

The info provided was wrote by a bunch of children that is why I asked for everyone who has questions about this to private message me so we don't have a bunch more kids typing on the forum.

Per our Kids Modification --
The Kids’ rules include a modification to high school rule 10-2-5, as follows:
A forfeit or no-show is the same as any other loss.
The forfeits do not result in disqualification for any of our tournaments.
Therefore, this is not an issue ---

If that is the rule, then that is the rule. I still don't think anyone should FF if they can wrestle. I don't have any stake in this particular situation, but I do believe that the integrity of the sport should be kept intact.

I had something close to this happen to my son this weekend. He has been nursing a sore shoulder for the last week or so. Facing the same kid tha originally gave him the sore shoulder. We all know when our kids are over matched and have very little chance of winning.
So do I injury default or FF the match so the shoulder doesn't get any worse. Go to the back side and face a kids we have beaten a few times already.
I gave my boy the choice, he decided to wrestle and still lost and didn't hurt his shoulder any worse. Went on the beat the backside kid etc.
I don't know what exactly went on here and don't really care.
There are times that a FF when the kids is there isn't always bad.

Don't know the cases here, but in the past i have seen wrestlers take third rather then first to get on the opposite sides of the bracket from certian kids. Since we know what districts wrestle each other at state this can happen. At high school state each weight is drawn different so this doesn't happen. JMO

I understand that there are times you need to FF, but as a result of the multiple FF's at Districts, my son will have a harder time with the brackets unevenly weighted. What a shame after a long tough season.

They should switch to the high school seeding system. Bottom line is you come to wrestle -- so wrestle.....
