What is the "Western Junior Freestyle" tourney? Location? Qualifier for something else? So, he had a total of eight matches in two days or what? Thanks.

It is a regional qualifier, in his case, for Fargo! Kansas will host the Southern Plains Regional in June!

Cadets and Juniors can qualify in any region for entry into the National tourney!

Yes, eight matches in two days!

I believe that is correct! Plus by qualifying in Vegas, it opens up a "potential" spot for another Kansan!

He's actually a cousin to the Olympian and NCAA champion. Coincidently, I took third in FS at this same event my senior year. The champion was Les Gutches. Small world. I would have whipped Tyler Caldwell back then though. He was only 1 or 2 years old! smile

Does Tyler's participation in the Western regional mean he will not be competing in the Southern Plains?

His mere participation in Western regionals has no bearing on whether he will compete in Southern Plains regional! He may compete in multiple number of regionals and his placing in one ... has no bearing on his eligibility!
