I have started to notice all of the practice sessions that are going on right now that are taking place in Northeast Kansas (Kansas City) area. I have also started to notice that many of the Southeast Kansas kids have been traveling up to Kansas City to practice, which my family has done. Not everyone in Southeast Kansas has the free time or the time frame in there schedule avaliable to travel to Kansas City. Southeast Kansas has always been known for having outstanding wrestling, this is an opportunity to continue that tradition. If there are not any intense practice sessions going on in this area like there are in other areas of the state during the summer months we are going to be at a disadvantage next season. Southeast Kansas has yet to tap into a very vauleable resource.....Joe Renfro..... I took it upon myself to give Joe a call to see if he would be willing to run practice(s) once or twice a week over in Parsons, at his workout room at the college. His answer did not suprise me one bit. The minute I asked him he was on board. He said he would be there and his assistant coach would be "fired-up" to be able to coach kids in this area. If you have not heard of Joe, he is a top notch college coach, whose team won the Junior College National Championship in 2005, and his team continues to compete for the National Title every year. Our area of the state would be foolish not to take Joe up on this opportunity to let him coach and mentor our young kids. If you are interested in particpating please email me at wrestling_one@yahoo.com, give me a call on my cell (620)762-1297, or send me a pm. I look forward to hearing from everybody on this topic

Thank You,

We started to sense some of the same things that Jeremiah pointed out in our corner of the state.

Last summer, we started the Southeast Kansas Takedown League in Burlington to help wrestlers in southeast and east central Kansas. Our goal was to allow wrestlers to improve their technique on their feet and compete in a variety of takedown competitions.

We had 25 wrestlers (sixth through twelfth grade) from West Elk, Eureka, Chanute, Iola, Burlingame and Burlington included in the group were several high school and club level state qualifiers, state placers and state champions. I can list them later if interested.

League Nights are Tuesdays from June 2nd to June 30th for 5 weeks from 6:30 to 8 p.m. We are hoping to have between 40 and 50 wrestlers this summer on 3 mats. Here is the PDF file with our league information:

Contact the Burlington Wrestlng Culb at 620-364-2054 if you would like more information!

Next Tuesday April 28, coach Renfro will hold practice at 6:30 to 8:30 in the Labette Community College Gym. Coach Renfro would like to have a head count on how many plan to attend. If you would please contact me either by post, email (which is listed above), pm, or by phone (also listed above) please do so. The cost will be $5.00 a person. This is a great opportunity for our area of the state.

We had a great practice last night over at Labette Community College, we will practice at the same time next Tuesday, at 6:30. Hope to see all of you there, this is a great opportunity, with a-lot of personal attention from Coach Renfro, lets take advantage!!!!!

I also thought practice was great. My son really enjoyed Coach Renfro and the way he coached. We will be back next week and there after. I would like to thank Jeremiah Johnson for getting this started and special thanks to Joe Renfro for taking the time to teach these kids wrestling.

outstanding turn out on Tuesday we had at least 26 kids in the room. If numbers stay at this level Joe will start brining in some of his own wrestlers to help out. Appreciate everyone's support who has showed up so far.

Thank You
