I thought the tournament DISTRICTS was wayyyy incredibly too packed they defineatly dont have the facility to hold such a large tournament. We ran out of toilet paper before my second match. The place reeeeked. The floor problem was horrible. You could actually smell the water. But, they did have pretty quick bracket updates thats about the only positive thing. Oh and ALLLLL THE FREAKING mullets. I think I collect over 35 mullets for memories.

The actual wrestling ran well and smooth, I thought. The only problem that I had was the fact that there was not enough room. They kept announcing for people to please take a seat in the stands, but there were no seats.

Otherwise, great job Beloit.

From the perspective of a wrestler, the tournament was one of the better ran i've been too, although there wasn't really adequate warm-up space, the tournament was run great, there just plain wasn't enough room to warmup or even walk around to get to your mat for that matter. The guy yelling at everyone to go sit down on the PA was a little annoying, as was the lady that sang the national anthem (I coulda sang better and i dont sing, except in the shower)she was plain horrible, anyway great ran tournament, size was an issue. Would enjoy to come back to Beloit for maybe subs next year, or districts again if they could use an extra gym.

I did like the way that Beloit handled the wrestling brackets and medals. We were given them very quickly unlike at other district tournaments. The tournament overall was run very well. I really appreciated the low cost of concession food especially compared to other bigger tournaments that we have attended. Everything was great except for space. I know that there were several wrestlers who were on the floor waiting for their turn to wrestle that were "marked". There were also several that wanted to stay and watch the next match to see what to expect later that were "marked". However, there were some parents that were standing by the sides videotaping that were never marked. Also, there was no place to sit down in the stands. That is why you saw several people having to sit in the aisles. Overall, it was very nicely ran and I appreciate the work that they did at Beloit.

I thought Beloit ran very smoothly, but the space definitely was an issue. The concessions were phenomenal....I mean, who has ever heard of Bierock at a wrestling tournament? Kudos on the food and the prices. Some other people and myself were talking and thought districts would be better suited at a bigger facility next year, though, say....Russell...!! I realize it is as far west as you can get, but then look at the distance Russell travels to both district and then state. Atleast the people farther east get a break for state. Russell has two gyms and tons of seating, including balcony seating, as well as new bleachers just installed last week! Something to think about!

msjewel: Buhler has a huge facility as well. Our main gym is at least twice the size of Beloits, plus we have an older gym that is still bigger than Beloits and we also have a large eating area.

Computerized Shoes-
I agree Buhler is very nice and close to Hutch for hotel stays. I wonder how the change is brought about regarding location???

You have to bid for the rights to have a distict tounament. I'm sure people would line up to provide the venu it's alot of work.

The story I heard from our "team manager" was that we put in a bid for subdistricts this year and Smoky Valley got it because they are trying to start up a high school wrestling program. And you can only bid for one or the other (subs or districts).
