The below report in italics is currently on the Baker Website but I think my results are a little more accurate. As example I am pretty sure that Jacob Nowak wrestled Cole Geison and not Bryan Irsik. Also Baker's first actual victory was the 165 match in which Jacob Price won over Nick McGrew either 7-2 or 7-3 as they report below. The Joe Pace victory at 174 although not the first actual victory for the Baker squad was very big and electrified the crowd. So I believe there are a couple of small inaccuracies on the current report of the dual on the Baker website but it is pretty nice to see it on the Baker athletic website. http://www.bakeru.edu/athletics2Baker takes down York in their first ever competition BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Baker University was founded 152 years ago. Tonight, the Baker wrestling team made history defeating York College (Neb.), in their first ever dual-meet competition.
Brandon Gebhardt from Las Vegas, Nevada sealed the dual in the 197 lbs match when he took down Shuan Howard to give Baker the 30-15 advantage from which they never looked back.
Freshman Joe Pace from Platte City, Missouri was the first Baker wrestler to win a match on Saturday evening when he pinned Jamel Wheatley to give Baker the 21-15 advantage in the 174 lb match.
Freshman Jacob Nowak responded in the 184 lb match immediately after defeating Bryan Irsik a Junior from Garden City, Kansas by a score of 7-3.
Baker will be back in action tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m., when they host the Dan Harris Wildcat Open all-day long in the George F. Collins Center.
