This is probally the hardest thing that I have ever had to write. This morning the Head Wrestling coach for Bishop Ward High School, Marty Brock, died of a sudden and massive heart attack. He was playing golf with a dear friend at the time. Marty was also the Head golf coach at Ward. Coach Brock has been at Ward for 33 years, and has been the Head or Assistant Wrestling coach for all of those years. He will be missed dearly.

That is depressing and sad. Coach Brock was one of the good guys and will be missed by the wrestling community. Our prayers are with coach Brock's family and Bishop Ward High school.

The wake for Coach Brock will be held at St. Patricks Church, in Kansas City, on sunday the 27th at 4 to 6 p.m. The Church is located on 98th and State Ave, approximately 1 mile east of the Kansas Speedway.

I have known Coach Brock for many years. I was saddened to hear of his passing. We dualed Bishop Ward for several years, and they attended our tournament for many years. Marty always had a smile on his face and a positive word to say!! He also had a harness that he had to use on Coach Jim Schneweiss(sp?) for several years when they coached together!!

He will be missed by many!

May God Bless Coach Brock and welcome him into His kindgom. I pray for Blessings of strength and peace for his family and his teams and students at Bishop Ward!

Thank you for all the prayers, and support, Marty touched a lot of lives.I wouldnt be coaching wrestling if it were not for him.

Coach Brock and I had been discussing me taking over the program next year, and due to this tradgedy, I will be running the program from this point forward. I will be assisted by a former coach ,many of you know, Jim Schneiweiss. Myself, not being a teacher, and not being in the building full time will be a challenge. Our team is small, and inexperienced, but are a wonderfull group of kids. As a new Head Coach, I'm sure I will make my share of mistakes, but hopefully I will do o.k., having learned this sport from someone who spent most of his life around wrestling.

Marty Brock was an alum of Kaupun, in Wichita, and if someone there ever comes across old pictures from back in the day, I would love to see them. He talked about Kaupun fondly, and always followed the program when he could. (until we,4a, moved to Salina)

Good luck to everyone the rest of the year, Gods blessings.
