This weekend at the Eureka Invitational we'll be having a finals ceremony as always and I was just curious if anyone out there had a good idea of what should be on the CD.

Metallica has some good riffs to start their tunes off before they mess them up with their singing! Same with Kiss and AC/DC.

The thing from "Rocky", I think it is called "eye of the tiger"
might work.

"Eye of the Tiger" should only be used at the state finals.

Personally, I've always been a fan of "The Distance" by the band Cake. Here's some lyrics if you're not familiar:

Reluctantly crouched at the starting line
Engines pumping and thumping in time
The green light flashes, the flags go up Churning and burning they yearn for the cup
They deftly maneuver and muscle for rank
Fuels burning fast on an empty tank
Reckless and wild, they pour through the turns
Their prowess is potent and secretly stern
As they speed through the finish, the flags go down
The fans get up and they get out of town
The arena is empty except for one man
Still driving and striving as fast as he can
The sun has gone down and the moon has come up
Not long ago somebody left with the cup
But he's driving and striving an hugging the turns
And thinking of someone for who he still burns
He's going the distance
He's going for speed
She's all alone, all alone, all alone in a time of need
Because he's racing and pacing and plotting the course
He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse
He's going the distance
No trophies, no flowers, no flashbulbs, no lime
He's haunted by something he cannot define
Bowel shaking earthquakes of doubt and remorse
Assail him and bail him with monster truck force
In his mind he's still driving, still making the grade
She's hoping in time that her memories will fade
'Cause he's racing and pacing and plotting the course
He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse
The sun has gone down and the moon has come up
Not long ago somebody left with the cup
But he's striving and driving and hugging the turns
And thinking of someone for who he still burns
'Cause he's going the distance,
He's going for speed
She's all alone
All alone
All alone
In a time of need
Because he's racing and pacing and plotting the course
He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse
He's racing and pacing and plotting the course
He's fighting and biting and ridding on his horse
He's going the distance
He's going for speed
He's going the distance

Gotta have ya some "Winners Take It All" by Sammy Hagar. It's featured in my third favorite movie "Over the Top."

Also have to put in a little "Lunatic Fringe" by Red Rider, which is in the movie "Vision Quest."

No final is complete without the song "Final Countdown" by Europe.

That is quite a list, I think the younger generation might also like a tune called “Bad to the bone” by George Thorogood
PS: The song is best enjoyed with a little volume.

Thank you, it's only a brief window to the music I have on my list, and I tried to keep the list "clean" as so they could be used in public. On my own workout list it's much more PG-13 rated than that list.

Amen on 'Bad to the Bone' and most of the tunes and Alex's pg list. And, yeah, skip the Olympics song. PLEASE! Its cool at the Olympics - once every four years. But not so cool at a state meet year after year.

Looping some of the good riffs and skipping the lyrics is a good way to go if you got someone on hand who knows how to do it. It just gets a good beat going, without offending anyone with 'offensive' lyrics.

You could always find the Karaoke version of the songs and just randomly play them, or have the wrestlers try their hand at Karaoke before their match, then again maybe not.

Nothing offensive about the lyrics in this song, but the music/riffs in the beginning are powerful, especially when the volume is turned up. Therefore, I recommend Zoo by the Scorpions.

Although mentioned repeatedly, the winner is:

"The Final Countdown" - Europe

that is a no brainer

and of course, there is also this one.

Here is one for Ricky Bobby:

"No time for LOSERS, cuz we are the CHAMPIONS . . . of the world!!!"

;-)

Amen on the "Rock You Like a Hurricane".

"Take it Easy on Me" (Little River Band) for the ones that don't place in the two top. Would that be OK Beesom? ;-)
