Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion Kids Folkstyle Ks. Young Guns - Class Act - Thank you.

Didn't put this on here for any bashing so if you don't like it, please move on. My son, Kade, was invited by Scott Bockover to wrestle at Tulsa. I am not a certified coach and our club coaches had other duties already planned at a local tournament, but Scott and the other coaches from the Young Guns didn't hesitate to offer to coach Kade. They gave him a singlet, which helped him feel like a part of their team, and coached and worked with him with the upmost class and treated him like one of their own. So to Scott, Coach Fisher and Coach Lange, thanks very much. You and your entire club are class acts and will be one to be reckoned with in the coming years. Also thanks to Darren and Dylan Newton for the help.

We enjoyed coaching Kade. He has that special drive that you cant teach. He will be fun to watch in the future. See you guys at state and this summer for some camps with us.

We did a little camp with them this summer and ny son got a ton out of it. I hope to be invited back next year.

I agree with BLT. Young Guns run a very good club. My son is 1-3 this year with one of their kids and we (the boys and the Dads) always congratulate each other and pull for them in other matches. Good stuff.

I think it is awesome that you were able to allow your son an opportunity to go where the wrestling is challenging and with people who care. Says a lot about everyone involved. This is a great example of cooperation and trust. Something that is rare these days. Best wishes for continued success.

We appreciate all the positive feedback on our club. Everyone has to remember yes there will be times we as coaches and parents will get on this forum and argue and even lose a temper. At the end of the day we all need to remember what we are in this sport for. We are here to make a difference in all the kids lives. Im sure I have had a coach or parent watch how I coach and say that man is crazy what is he doing coaching. What they dont see is at the end of the day when we hug and tell everyone of our kids that we love them no matter how they performed on the mat. I struggle every week to keep my older son in wrestling because he is a great athlete and is very good in yes basketball to. I hope we continue in the sport for a long time but for now I have to cherish each moment as they come because we dont know what the future may hold for anyone. We are focused on making our kids along with all Kansas kids champions within the state and on the national lever.

Very well put Scott. Debated whether to put this post on here but decided that it's important to show that kids (example-Ks. Young Guns), are going to respond to positive feedback and a caring approach better than getting screamed at for an hour after they lose a match. The two 8 under kids that the Young Guns had in 70lbs wrestled their butts off at Tulsa in a loaded bracket (ie - Gamble) and end up 3rd and 5th. I watched them lose the matches they lost and there was no screaming but their parents (coaches) stayed positive and continued to coach........not criticize. Very impressive!! As long as my son is giving his best effort, I will never never criticize. When he stops giving effort, then it's time to ask him if this is something that he really wants to be doing. I mean c'mon, it's obvious that there are kids out there who really could care less if their wrestling or not and are truly wrestling scared of what will happen if they lose.

Forgot to put in last post that we are very proud to have the coaches that we have at our club as well.

man i can see bockman's head swelling right now! lol. great job guys, i like your way of thinking/ coaching. don't worry too much scotty, even if your son decided to become a full time pumpkin pounder, we all know that he will be on top. wrestling the best has made him one of the best. just tell him that b-ball is too easy, i get the feeling that he likes the challenge of wrestling.
