I am needing to get in touch with a club that is running a private wrestling club, one that has set up a corporation and has a 501-3C filed to do so. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt you will find any with a 501-C due to the cost of setting one up. At best you will find clubs that are incorporated with the state as non-profit corporations. The 501-C only does the club good if they are going to solicit donations from individuals. Any business can write off donations without the non-profit being a 501-C.

We are looking for clubs that have set up an independant club with their own by-laws. If so, it would help us speed up our process of setting up an independant club if we can use them to see where to start. And if there are situations to steer away from or things that should have been done differently. You can email me at jwood@pld.com.

The Independence Wrestling Club has been a 501 C3
for many years. However, I don't know if we need it becuase most of our donations are small and from individuals rather that companies. I've heard you can save the cost of getting your own 501 C3 by getting under a host organization. We have sveral small organizations such as the Tennis Association and Youth Choir doing this in our area.

Jason? We started goiing through the process a couple of years ago. At this point I don't know our status, I just Coach. But you might try to get in touch w/ Tracy from our Club. If she doesn't have the info. she'd be the one that could set you in the right direction. I know we do get alot of help from businesses and community support, but our big push was for grant elegibility. Hope that helps.
