It looks like a nice draw for Harrison at 141's. I expect he'll make the finals. I don't like Tommy or Grater's, but either of those boys can win it.

Bottom line is we'll have to beat some studs to place anyway, but I personally liked the draw over the other option it could have been.

Pill b was drawn last year, which means it had to be pill a or pill c this year.see appendix b (page 25)of this document for more description -

http://web1.ncaa.org/web_files/champ_handbooks/wrestling/2010/2_wrestling_handbook.pdf

IMO, there would have been a lot of projected finals matches wrestled in the semis under pill C.

Thought 197 was interesting with Pill a - first round match between last year's 184 pound champ (Sand) vs. last year's 197 pound champ (Griffin). Had pill C been drawn, it would have been Sand vs. Marrs in the first round.

Rynish is pretty tough! I don't know if thats a lucky pill draw for him.. Curtis is dangerious though and can catch just about anyone. Rynish has a great shot which may play into Chenowith's style.... We shall see.

FHSU's boys are sitting pretty nice for the most part.

Thanks for that link Les. I didn't know exactly how they drew these up.

I guess it is the semi's matches that worry me with Grater and Edgemon. I was just looking at it purely with a set of "final glasses" on.

How long has the tourney been scored this way? A little tilt goes a long way for the team.

tech fall (w/ near fall)= 1 1/2
tech fall (w/o near fall)= 1
major decision = 1

i'm guessing since they changed the dual scoring to that way. a tech w/o nearfall is only worth 4 pts. i think last year was the first year for div 1 to do this. was it a trial run for them last year? funny rule. a tech is a tech. shouldn't matter how you score imo.

So it turns out I'm really not "well aware of how scoring works"! A was unaware of the tech rule. I agree...a tech should be a tech.

Wouldn't that be a pain to scorekeep and keep track of? I hope high schools never go to that!

Omaha is getting ready for Div II National Tournament. They are adding a new large scoreboard & video screen in the fieldhouse. I'd post a photo if I knew how. Anyone planning to attend?

I know of no scorekeeper that keeps track of nearfalls if there is a tech fall. I don't believe the computer data entry does either. How is that being scored then?

I would not miss it for the world. UNO is planning on a really BIG show. This will be the total opposite of Houston which was a joke.

I saw Jordan Nichols in a FHSU dual get a tech fall without near fall points. The rule has been in effect for quite some time, you just hardly ever see it.

High School tournament scoring is NOT the same as collegiate scoring. NFHS Rule 9-2 (pg. 45):

Tournament Scoring:
Fall - 2 pts.
Default - 2 pts.
Forfeit - 2 pts.
Disqualification - 2 pts.
Technical Fall - 1 1/2 pts.
Major Decision - 1 pt.

I was referring to dual meet scoring in High School, but I stand corrected as it's not 4 points for a Tech Fall with no nearfall points.

You can pre-purchase general admission individual session tickets or all session passes by calling 402 554-6287. The link below has all the tournament info. If this is your first time to the UNO campus you might be interested in the parking info & campus maps.
