Could some either point me in the right direction or could you tell me what the state brackets will look like. EX. D3 1 goes againtst D4 4. But that is all that I know. Which 2 and 3 seeds go against each other but could someone tell me how the brackets will look like. Who is on the top and who is on the bottom. Thanks

ready2wrestle

The actual brackets formats are not made public until after districts so that people do not intentionally lose to position themselves on the state bracket.

All that is known for certain is District 1 will wrestle District 2 in the first round and District 3 will wrestle District 4. The first round will matchup 1st place wrestlers from district vs 4th place wrestlers and 3rd place wrestlers vs 2nd place.

You can also be certain that the 1st and 2nd place from each district will be on opposite sides of the state bracket so that if the two best wrestlers at a particular weight are from the same district, they will not wrestle until the finals.

You also know that the district champions will not meet until the semi final round.

If it is like the past...
It should look "something" like this...
It could be a little off...but this is the general outline.

Each quarter of the bracket will have a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finisher from districts and each quarter of the bracket will have representatives from all four districts.

So the district 1 and 2, 1st and 4th place finishers will be on the same half of the bracket. along with the 2nd and 3rd place finishers from district 3 and 4.

Do not quote me on actual locations, this is simply an example of how it has worked in the past...

Have fun!!!

D1-1
D2-4
D3-3
D4-2

D3-2
D4-3
D1-4
D2-1

D3-1
D4-4
D1-3
D2-2

D1-2
D2-3
D3-4
D3-1

The question I have is that if 3 of the districts only have 3 kids each in a weight bracket and 1 district has 7 kids because it is twice the size of the other districts why wouldn't it be fair just to let all 16 kids attend state and fill out the bracket. It just doesn't seem fair to leave out 3 kids just because they are in a bigger district and let other kids bye through. Just my opinion.

The answer to this from what I remember a few years ago is that there are only four spots from each District that can wrestle at State. Although they wrestle for 5th/6th at Subs in case one of the top four can't compete at Districts (alternate takes their spot), it is not the same from District to State. I am not sure how this rule came about, and I am not questioning its validity, but that is the way I understand it (fair or unfair).

The rule is that if there is 3 kids in one part of a district, and 5 in the other part, then all of the wrestlers in that district go to districts. Now if there is 3 in one and 8 int the other then only top 5 out of that district get to go. Just ensures an eight man bracket at districts! Hope this helps!

I realize that this is the rule, or at least as it was conveyed to me a few years back. I understand trying to fill an 8-man brackets at Districts, I just don't understand why they wouldn't want to fill all sixteen slots for State (a little more revenue for whoever the revenue at State goes to). This is the only thing that I can think as to why this is the rule: D1 places four, D2 places 4, D3 places 3 and D4 places 4 (15 of 16 spots filled). D1, D2 and D4 all had at least five wrestlers and it would be a logistical nightmare to figure out which 5th place finish gets to move on (without a coin flip, or maybe rock, paper, scissors).

I guess that makes sense, I see where that would be a nightmare trying to fiqure out. I just wish that the amount of clubs in each district would be a little more equal so you didn't have twice as many kids in one district. Hopefully the powers to be could look at this and come up with a little better division.

WELL THE POWERS THAT BE HAVE NO IDEA FROM YEAR TO YEAR HOW MANY WRESTLERS WILL BE SIGNED UP IN EACH DISTRICT. SO THE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT TILL A FEW WEEKS INTO THE SEASON EACH YEAR AND CHANGE THEY DISTRICTS TO MAKE THEM EVEN!

They have a pretty good idea and you base your division of districts on last years numbers just like each district does for subs.
