The Frontenac school board approved the addition of wrestling as a competitive opportunity for its high school students. Awesome job by Denny Hensley, Randy Flora and crew. When lots of schools are looking cut programs, including wrestling, it is great to see a community join together and get this done. Hats off the the folks down in Raider land!

I wouldn't discount the possibility that someone sees it as a means of taking potential football players away from Colgan as well.

They will be on the rise soon. I think they had about 35-45 kids wrestle in their club this year.

Wathena High School will also be starting a wrestling program next year. Wathena is currently in negotiations with Elwood High School about a possible consolidation. The program will be fed by the Northeast Knights Youth Wrestling Club, which had 43 participants this year. The youth club will have to finance the high school program, but at least we got it.

Great news in a year when we should be counting our losses.
