All the talk on football, but Nebraska adds a nice angle to Big 10 for wrestling. Now if OU and OSU get shipped out to the Pac 10, that essentially could be intriguing as well. 8 teams compete in the Pac 10 for wrestling (one of which is Boise State as a provisional member). Add in Oregon State, Cal Poly, Arizona State, Bakersfield, Stanford, Davis, and Fullerton and you would have a 10 team Pac 10.

Maybe super regionals are coming to DI? Division II and I believe DIII have them already. As for Missouri and Iowa State? Maybe they should join the MAC which has 6 teams with wrestling, and make an even 8 out there. They would join Central Mich, Kent State, Ohio, Buffalo, Northern Illinois, and Eastern Michigan.

Thoughts?

Can you have an NCAA Qualifier in wrestling (as a conference) with only 4 teams? I was thinking surely a minimum of 5 was pushing it. Maybe the remaining 4 get pushed in with Air Force, Northern Colorado and Utah Valley for wrestling?

It will remain the Big 5 for the 2010-2011 wrestling season.

Nebraska will not become a member of the Big Ten until the 2011-2012 season.

Wit the additional revenue at both KSU and KU, it seems it would be a good time for them to add wrestling. They could add softball for the women to keep it balanced for Title IX.

I think it would be especially prudent on KU's part to add wrestling. I believe there is a good possibility that this conference realignment movement will come up again in a few years. KU's best option for another conference in my opinion would be the Big Ten. All the Big Ten teams have wrestling. KU should start a program and develop it over the next five years to make themselves a more attractive candidate to the Big Ten.

Kansas State and Wichita State both should also have a wrestling programs. Wrestling is very important part of the culture in both Wichita and Manhattan and they both need Division I college wrestling programs in those areas of Kansas.
