After a start nearly 60 minutes late, my son wrestles match 30, has to wait until 82 (loses in a tight semifinal match) and then is expected to wrestle at match 84 after resting only 1 match. What ever happened to giving a kid some recovery time? I only use my son as an example - this was very common after the semis. I will recommend our club avoid this tournament next year. Unfortunately, having too may kids for the facility is not an excuse for the disorganization issues. You accepted the registrations...

It's in the by-laws that he has 30 minutes between matches unless that it waived by both coaches & wrestlers... All you had to is speak up

Unless it's specified in Lee Summit's tournament flyer stating that rule doesn't apply then I think it would apply.

**Edit** Does Missouri have this same amendment?

Well I learned today that its imposssible to please everyone.
We started 10 min early and I was actually screamed at by a coach for starting early. We didn't scratch anyone til after 9am but ppl were mad cause we started early.
We told everyone at the coaches meeting we were ready to go and would start on time or a little early. Then the afternoon session was supposed to start between 1 and 1:30...
Started at 1:40 and everyone was headed home by 6pm and we still had ppl complain.
Some my advice is do the best you can, know your limits, and try to put the wrestlers first and everything else is what it is.

Kids first! I like it. I've been there when we arrived at a gym at 7 am, and left at 8 pm. It can make for a long day, in being a wrestling parent, a coach, and tournament staff. In the end at least our kids got to wrestle, and that although we may be tired, we're not dead, and we'll be home soon!

Stay positive! They'll be good tourneys and not so good tourneys, but at least we can all say we've been there.

Well said, Paratroop. I don't have any problems with a long day as long as it is half way organized. Doesn't make any sense to have the brackets stacked the way they were. To make a kid wait 50 matches and then have them back to back just doesn't make sense. 30 minutes, 8-10 matches, whatever... but let's use some common sense.

Along the same lines, I spent today at the Cougar Novice at SMNW. Started late due to a bunch of scratches but very well organized. Great day for some of our beginning wrestlers...

We had to rebracket a whole tournament and started our novice an hour late today.
About 400 kids wrestled their tails off today and we were lucky enough to have the last one leave at 3:00.
I think its a lot like wrestling in the way that a lot of times you have to come from behind to try to win.
And if you just throw your hands in the air and give up then there's no chance for a comeback.
At the end of the day a lot of kids got to wrestle and a lot of parents spent their day for the betterment of kids.

I call that a good day no what happened in between!
