I was thinking about changing the format to only coin flips all day instead of wrestling Cheif. I am not going to sweat what I can't control. And I cannot control that rule. You can't blame me for poking at Will when the ol, self proclaimed "wise one" screws up. Just using "coin flip" as a figure of speach so I wouldn't have to dig up the critieria and post it. It would bore everyone to tears. I am promoting the scramble format because it gives ALL wrestlers more mat time and eliminates the need for a sixth match or the associated tie breaking formula. Harry, please have your resume ready so I can hand deliver it to Gary. You are the perfect replacement for Rick!

Finals Start approx 3:30pm. No lunch break. Lots of nice match ups across the board.

A couple of questions if I may:
WHY a one day 18 team tournament??? Seems as if we are creating bad situations so we can then b---H and complain about a National rule (no 6th match).
Why 160+ varsity and 150+ JV wrestlers??. Is this two tournaments (a JV and a varsity), or are they filling the varsity brackets with JVs. If filling the brackets, then a harsh description on the status of HS wrestling in Kansas (programs /rosters are only 1/2 to 2/3s full).
Why not a 12 team one day tournament that may fill an 8 man bracket--get it done easily in one day with no need for a 6th match. But, then some dudes would want to wrestle to 12 places, which defeats the purpose of a 12 team tournament. Bigger (more teams) does not necessarily mean a better tournament--especially when brackets are full of opens/byes or JVs!!!
Have to agree with Cokely about having a one day scramble with four 4 man pools. Hopefully 18 teams could fill the pools with fewer JVs needed

They are 2 seperate tourneys. They start they jv in both gyms at 8/830 and then move it to the smaller gym when the varsity one is going to start.

Roger two tournaments---JV and varsity.
For the varsity tournament, 167 out of a possible 252 wreslers. 66 per cent of brackets filled---or 83 or 33 per cent of opens/byes. Not a good set of numbers.
Whats the solution???? to get more wrestlers.

Taylor Moeder was the Outstanding Wrestler, narrowly edging Zach Grimes and Xavier Vierya. 3 deserving athletes. Although you don't see a lot of ranked teams, individually, this was a tough 1 day tourney. There were only 3 consolation matches decided by criteria. We're considering a different format next year, but I think things went very well today. Thanks to all for coming.
