Seems every tournament we have gone to this year that uses computers has been at least an hour or more late. While the tournaments that do old school or by hand seem to run on time. Is the computer age really that good????? Thoughts???????

Weigh-ins the morning of the tournament - tends to mess with brackets more than anything. If weigh-ins are done the night before - no reason tournament can not start on time. Volunteers, volunteers, volunteers, tournament ready volunteers really make it work.

Matside scoring huge time saver there is no running bout sheets from head table to mat tables - that is assumimg everybody has been trained on scoring at the tables.

Friday night weigh ins only out here are knida hard. We have to drive at least 30 miles or more for every tournament. D4 is big and way spread out. It is where we live and we deal with it

jule as leoti was a great run tounament, for being there first tournament in years, there in no way you can say they started on time. as far as friday night weigh ins not out here in western kansas would never work.

For the Silver Lake Open/Novice, we go old school (pencil and paper) because that's what we know. We just don't have the experience with track wrestling. But we start on time and have the wrestling savy help to make changes on the fly. Maybe we're just afraid of change, but until we screw it up, it's hard to fix something that isn't broken. I'm sure in the future we'll make some changes, once we get some experience with the technology!

The Mill Valley tournament utilized matside scoring and trackwrestling and it got started at about 9:04. Joe Knecht from Paola and Jeff Broadbent from MV ran it like clockwork. We would've been at least an hour later going with paper and pencil. If you've got the right people and a reliable internet connection, there's no other way to go.

The fact that girls are forced to wrestle at state in the middle of the week is laughably sexist.

Actually Damon I think we started wrestling at least 7 minutes early on one of the mats. They started before the National Anthem was sung. LOL

I am for trackwrestling all the way which works great with remote weigh ins. I do remember the old days well but I feel this is going to be the new big change here in the near future. Every tournament that we have been to has started on time or real close and have been done at a decent time. As far as the touchy subject of cheating, I have never seen it with my own eyes, if the kid doesn't make weight scratch, and bump up. I have also been to tournaments that do a great job with the old school method which works too. I prefer trackwrestling so this year I have taken kids to attend those tournaments even if I have to drive further.

I like track wrestling also but Ulysses did use track wrestling and it was a mess. They even allowed a 10 and under 61 to wrestle in 8 and under 61 because they forgot him and I guess didn't didn't know how to fix it. Yes they were called on it and didn't change it. So I am thinking track isn't perfect.
