I think it would be awesome to start a program, and see how far you could take it in five years. Congrats to all involved!

I hate to burst your bubble but these are not the first people to make it to the big dance for Cheney. While these are Cheney's first qualifiers in 4A they have also had qualifiers in 321A.

In 2007, Kyle Pinkley at 189 and James Glazier at 215 made it to Hays for Cheney.

But they didn't come from Cheneys team. They combined with garden plain in the past and they split three seasons ago so therefore these are the first state qualifiers from Cheneys wrestling program.

ACTUALLY, Cheney has always been Cheney! They coopted with GP during the regular season, but then KSHSAA policy requires them to split and only wrestle for their home school in the post-season. Therefore, when these wrestlers qualified for Cheney, they were Cheney wrestlers. Do you honestly believe GP wrestlers would don Red and Blue for Cheney?

i dont think the GP kids would "don" the red and blue at all! and im glad i dont have to wear the yellow and black! gimme a break im new to the state! i did not know they had to split up again in the post season in the past.. thanks for the info Koranda!
