In this scenario, how which 8 guys go to district?

8 u 80lbs
North sub: full 8 man bracket
South sub: 2 man round-robin

Obviously the top 4 from the North would go and the 2 from the South. But how do we decide who fills out the last 2 spots since an 8 man bracket doesn't wrestle out to the 6th place?

The fact that girls are forced to wrestle at state in the middle of the week is laughably sexist.

They always wrestle for 5th and 6th and those 2 will advance.

Damon

5th place from D1N will take the spot of 3rd from D1S and 6th place from D1N will take the spot of 4th from D1S.

It always seems unfair that the 5th place finisher at subs gets seeded higher at districts than the 4th place finisher.

So in my sons situation district 3 west 10 and under 58lbs. there is 5 kids in a 8 man bracket. 2 kids on the east side all 7 kids should go to districts with the 5 th place finisher getting the 3 seed from the east correct? i was told that they will only take 4 kids from the west and go wrestle the 2 from the east. and the kid in 5th his season would be over. is this correct!

The way I have understood it in the past is that they will take an extra wrestler from a Sub-district bracket if the other one was short to go to Districts. This is not the same from District to State though. Only four from each District go to State, and if a District bracket only has three wrestlers, the other slot is filled in by my favorite wrestler Bye.

All four Districts will be filling their District brackets with 5th/6th place sub-district finishers. They will pull more than 4 from a sub-district if the competing sub-district has less than 4 qualifiers if applicable.

No more than 4 qualifiers from each District will move on to the State bracket...5th/6th place District finishers will only be drawn from to fill vacancies from your own District.

Hey Lee, that "Bye" dude can be tough, however, I think he is about the only one I could beat in Jr. High. That's why I played the "B" sport. Sorry to use such language on here, but glad my son got his mother's killer attitude.haha Wasn't quite that bad but I sure enjoyed seeing him as my opponent.

Good luck to everyone this weekend!!

The "Bye" dude is tough. Although you beat him 95% of the time (the other times you are sick, injured, or don't make weight), he can make it tough on you since he doesn't allow you to get into the flow of the tournament. For the record, I am not a big fan of Bye.
