Someone help me remember. I think you can take your record with you if you move down in weight, but not if you move up in weight. Is that correct. I know I have always thought that was odd because it discourages kids from moving up with growth.

Some bounce back if they know for sure. Randy or Mike?

Thanks!

Yes, you can take your record down with you!

I see your point but traditionally they consider the higher weight class tougher. Even though we know that is not necessarily true.

Also for the benefit of others, novice records are not counted in seeding.

Sorry, now I need further clarification. Is it correct that you can NOT use your record from a lower weight? I always understood the rule to be your record from Kansas OPEN tournaments, but was never aware of the weight rules. So if your wrestler recently moved up in weight they will only have a very small record? Thanks for the help.

Generally, you are not supposed to take your record at a lower weight class, up. But also the coaches in the meetings that I have been in charge of and been to, recognize the kids that need to be seeded.

The purpose of seeding is to separate your good wrestlers. Often times, they will have met each other within this season and it often seeds itself. Though it is not an exact science! If they are seeded properly, your first and second wrestlers meet each other in the finals and the third and fourth in the consolations.

Note: I often look back at the end of our subs and we do a pretty good job!

Randy,

Thanks for the clarifications. One more, what about Jr. High records?
