The Continental Divide!
Nuway vs. Super 32. I wish we had one dedicated folkstyle event to match up the nation's best.
Let's set up a dual match for the champions!

yes we have one KS kid signed up this year. Love to have Kansas represented. Cheap airfare on Allegient Air out of Wichita. A ton of nationally ranked kids registered from Apple Valley MN, Oak Park, IL, Clovis, CA and may other programs. We expect to our event to be in most cases as tough as any in the country. Also have our youth, ms, and womens divisions as well as a division for non elite varsity wrestlers. Check out the recent registrants 155 a good example Kingsley, Lavallie, Martinez all top 7 wrestlers. 106-148 equally as tough. Expecting a few big registrants at the upper weights here in the next week including a few #1 and #2 ranked wrestlers. A ton of college coaches say there coming to Vegas in large part due to the dropping of UCNG. Great opportunity to make a name for yourself. In addition every champion gets a singlet, 5" medals, and TP & ESCO live performance. UFC 137 and Bull Riding finals in Vegas that weekend---2 million people on the strip---it's a freak show www.nuwayvegas.com

... and ALL will contend they are the greatest, with watered down competition!
Are you making a POSITIVE difference in the life of kids?

I can't wait to get to the watered down pre-season nationals to see if my son is wet enough to place there. Kansas kids should walk through this tourny, if it's watered down that much. Good luck to all the Kansas kids planning on going!

... point taken perhaps "watered-down" is a bit tough! However with 3 major tournies that same weekend I anticipate most will stay close to home.
In Iowa, you will have tons of Iowa kids and a bunch of Missouri, Minnesota, etc. You'll probably not face many from Ohio, PA, Jersey or Florida!!

Randy,
No doubt that with three events the talent pool will be split. I think we will attempt at some level to find a way to maybe see if one of the three will move dates at some point. I know UNI and Ballys had limited dates.
We are willing to make an investment in a group from KS that wants to attend. So if someone did want to head that group up and have an experience maybe a little different PM me and we can find a way to make the trip more affordable.

Super 32 dwarfs the other tournaments. Look at the brackets.

a 2-2 at the CA state meet (1 division 850+ schools) is likely in most cases tougher than more than 2/3 rds of the kids in one of those 120 man brackets. I know KS is represented well at NHSCA Senior nationals every year---how many AA's do you see from NC,GA,VA, SC etc--not many
So size of bracket means nothing---its quality
They have a great event but the best CA kids are off that board and going to vegas--so In reality you have a few brackets with 5-7 great kids and the majority with large numbers
Good example last years NHSCA Senior national champ took 5th at vegas in year 1 and 5th in our state--and I am talking 119-125 not 103
we have a double fargo champ who placed 5th last year as well and a couple of other fargo champs that failed to win the event.
Like I said if someone from KS would like to put together a group and head to vegas we would be happty to make an investment in your state. Than a group could come back and share with you the experience.
and for the record I would take that dual champs on champs any day--I think we win that dual.

Match up last year's champs! 2010 103 - Darian Cruz (Bethlehem Catholic PA) 112 - Anthony Ashnault (South Plainfield NJ) 119 - Nathan Kraisser (Centennial MD) 125 - Geoffrey Alexander (Shadyside Academy PA) 130 - Ethan Raley (Indian Creek IN) 135 - Steve Spearman (McDowell PA) 140 - Roger Wildmo (Durand MI) 145 - Nick Hodgkins (Wyomissing PA) 152 - Codey Combs (Sussex Central DE) 160 - Cody Wiercioch (Charleroi PA) 171 - Brandon Griffin (Sprauge OR) 189 - Kenneth Courts (Central Dauphin PA) 215 - Matt Idelson (Garnet Valley PA) 285 - Jacob Aiken-Phillips (Central Gwinnett GA)

128 Gaytan, Tuma, Templeman, FROD gonna be right there with anyone in the country
133 Gasca defending champ won in a division that our senior national champ took 5th--he will wrestle with anyone in the country--and will see where Cisneros is on Halloween weekend

143 Willie Fox 3x NHSCA AA and Champ I am pretty sure he will wrestle with anyone
148 Mark Hall is going to be right up with best of them
155 IMAR, Lavallie or Kingsley---all 3 would likely win super 32
163 Have some good kids there will see how it fills up--likely a Brunson
174 Nikko Reyes, Connor King--S32 finalist gotta think he is right there--

218 and HVY who knows the best kids play football and will see who comes out of teh woodwork Get it straight... 103 - Valencia is your 115 pound champion. This match would be fun to watch. Perez vs. Cruz. Cruz is ranked #4 by Intermat. Perez took 3rd at Fargo and ran the table at the Junior Duals. 112 - Ashnault is ranked #1 by Intermat. He rolls Valencia. 119 - Kraisser is ranked #11. Look at his criteria on Track. He rolls Gasca. 125 - Alexander is ranked #5. Phaysamone had a nice VA trip but can't win here. 130 - Raley is ranked #17. Villareal probably does win this. Your first points. 135 - Spearman is ranked #13. Cisneros is ranked #4. One of only 3 ranked guys by Intermat. I actually like this match. Toss-up. 140 - Wildmo is ranked #2. I appreciate you "giving" this one to him. Wildmo gets bonus points here. 145 - Nick Hodgkins is ranked #1. A toss-up? Sawyer Smith would not have gone to Ouachita Baptist if he could hang with Hodgkins. Nick rolls him. 152 - Codey Combs was a 4X champ who signed with Arizona State. You're calling a win here? Anciete? 160 - #4 ranked Wiercioch gets bonus points here. 171 - #13 ranked Brandon Griffin. You think Randy McDonald beats him? 189 - Courts is ranked #3. Possibly bonus points. 215 - Idelson by fall. 285 - I don't think Aiken-Phillips gets pinned but I will concede the match. S32 wins 39-13. I take back my every weight comment.

Buddy that was year 1 ---
This year we have double the field and a ton more ranked kids
I think your understimating kids like Gasca, Phaysamone etc--Mathers was a Fargo AA and got teched I think in teh finals--and he is pretty good
Gasca beat an NHSCA AA in vegas finals and the 5th place finisher Fabian Garcia was the senior NHSCA Champ.
Cisneros and Isaiah were in the same bracket by design--they could easily spread out
I think its closer than you think--and that was with 300 kids in elite division---now that field doubles and the level of competition has risen--I am looking at both top 3 kids at each event and this year its a toss up
FYI Zahid and Ashnault wrestled at AM CUP it was a 1 point match 6-5 I believe, and your basing your stats on rankings we have kids that like I say go to senior nationals unranked and win it--our best kids dont go to fargo as tehy cant afford it. How is this for rankings a NJ all star team with 12 nationally ranked kids came to CA and got beat by a regional team...like I said if any KS kids want to come wrestle the often underlooked in the west let me know. I would also be willing to bring a team to KS this summer for an exchange

That's a good exchange! It's always nice to highlight the details. I also appreciate your attitude about soliciting Kansas wrestlers. We all know that California is the sleeping giant. I keep waiting for them to bust into the top 4 at the Junior Duals. That would be AWESOME to set up a folkstyle dual event between KS and CA!
I still wish these events were on different dates. Nobody like separating the top kids.
Best wishes to you in Vegas!
