For the purpose of determining classifications it doesn't matter if the school has wrestling or not. The top 32 enrollments will be 6A, the next 32 5A, and the next 64 4A regardless of whether they offer wrestling or not. Last year there were three or four 4A schools that didn't offer wrestling which resulted in a BYE at the regional tournament.

Goddard is now two high schools so I assume that will have some impact.

Guesses:

5A - Goddard
5A - Eisenhower (Will be real close after they exclude the Freshman class and have only about 100 seniors that transferred? Those north of HWY 54 go here.)
5A - St. James Academy
4A - Pittsburg
4A - Topeka Highland Park
4A - Valley Center

That would probably move Russell???

Bonner Springs could possibly be 5A also!

Richard? Any thoughts you can add here?

They are not excluding the freshman classes this year. Grades 9-12 will all be counted. This is the way my AD explained it to me. This will probably have the biggest impact on the schools that have a high dropout rate, and have big freshman classes.

What makes you think St. James will be 5A?

How would 2 schools move down to 321A if 1 new school is added?

Adding two smaller Goddard schools will push a smaller 5A schools down into 4 A.

It would have to be pretty large jump for a current 4a school to move up.

If they include 9th graders in the count I would assume Gardner Edgerton will bump up. The last few years the freshman class has been larger than the one before.

cant wait to see how it will all shake out.

You are right Shu. With just Eisenhower added, 4/5/6A will shuffle and 321A will gain just one school.

Anyone have enrollment numbers for any of the biggest 1/2/3A, 4A, or 5A schools? (i.e., St. James, Emporia, Gardner-Edgerton, Goddard). Did not know if a little birdie has any inside info.
